You don't need divisions to have a conference championship. Just have to 2 best teams play each other. The Big 12 does it that way.

As for the 9 game conference schedule, I like that idea too. I just don't care if we play teams like Mizzou or USC every year.

There are going to be years where the 2 top teams aren't clearly identified. Yet you always want these sorts of things settled on the field and not leave it up to the athletic directors or the computers. That would be my worry about the lack of divisional play.

Was talking with a UGA fan this weekend who was praising Pruitt for his work while at UGA. He says Pruitt was an ace talent evaluator that unearthed a lot of unheralded recruits who wound up being 3 or 4 year contributors. He expected Pruitt to kill it at UT.

Thought that was interesting.

I don’t understand. He didn’t bark at you?

That happens with divisions. Did the 2 best teams play in the SEC championship game last year? Was Florida the second best team in the SEC in '15 and '16? In 2008 when the big 12 actually had 12 teams and 2 divisions, there was a 3 way tie where a division champ was decided by the AP poll or something stupid. Texas only loss was to Tech (on that late Crabtree TD) whose only loss was to Oklahoma whose only loss was to Texas. They were all in the same division. The late 90's when the 2 best teams in the SEC were Florida and Tennessee but they couldn't play each other in the championship because they were in the same division.

I would argue that you are more likely to get the 2 best teams in the championship game if you eliminate the divisions.

If everyone stays healthy my guess is that Banks will emerge as the early down grinder and Chandler will emerge as the 3rd down satellite back.

Jordan/London end up getting carries here and there to keep fresh legs on the field. I could see us using all 4 in lots of games. But the majority of the carries go to Banks/Chandler.

Ridiculously premature thought...

Considering Banks is a true freshman and expects to get a fair share of carries this season on account of being one of the only big backs that Pruitt prefers.... he could make a run at the team career rushing record before he graduates.

I was KIDding. :)

Get it? Childish? Kidding? Kid? Child? Child=kid?

I wanna see Tim Jordan run the rock hard in the 4th. Pruitt loves those physical one cut backs and I can see Jordan doing that.

Chandler is going to be filthy this year. I can feel it in my bones.

Chandler will get some yards that's for sure. But I don't think he is our every down back.

He will definitely gash defenses though. I think he is the guy you put in after you wear down the defense so that he hurts them.

if this offense can put together 1st downs and keep the ball for longer than 3 downs and a punt or 6 plays and a turnover, then this whole RB by committee thing could be pretty impressive.

i think one thing Pruitt has made pretty clear, they are going to get a lot of guys reps. they're going to try and stay fresh for as long as they can, and help reduce the risk of injury.
