I mean let's think about this for a second...we are actually missing Kongbo and Abernathy.

Richmond all of sudden our best OL. Alexis our best DL. Phillips making big plays. 2 WRs becoming studs at CB. Buchanon becoming reliable at Star.

Wtf is happening? Are we developing football players again? Amazing some idiots think this staff can't coach because they are looking at a record

Speaking of, can Kongbo apply for a med RS?

Sounds about right. Landing the right GT at QB could be big for us. I'm not sure Hurts is the guy we want for this system, though, unless they really want to incorporate the QB into the ground game.

I'd be perfectly fine with going with a guy like Hurts with the state of our OL at the moment. He'd only be a one-and-done, so it's not a long term commitment to a dual-threat QB system. The only problem is it'd take a spot from our recruiting class, (and it'd be really weird rooting for a guy who's absolutely torched us for a few years).

Really weird the juxtaposition of how coaches now are going about playing the best guy, versus the prototypical view of the QB being the leader of the team and locker room. Who knows how bringing on another GT-QB would affect the leadership dynamics with JG.

You can be reasonably certain you have made a dumbarse comment when Chiefturd likes it.

Calling it a "dumbarse comment" doesn't make it untrue. We've done nothing since 1998, but the "LOL IT FEELS LIKE 98 BOYS" stuff is still proudly touted and paraded around by fans and the administrators. We haven't been nationally relevant at the end of a season since 2001 and we crapped the bed that year. But sure, Tennessee is still a powerhouse and all of that feel good stuff.

Don't you have a commencement speech to give?

TKJr has knee issues, ankle issues-- his legs are just shot. There was always a question how much these chronically injured players like TK, DK and Chance Hall would be able to contribute. Now we know. But they work hard and are giving all they have, which is more than others are doing. It's unfortunate that some guys willing to put in full effort can't play at the level they want. That goes for Trey Smith, too. He played on a sore ankle most of the season without taking a game off, because the team needed him.

I want your thoughts. I noticed that Auburn seems to have a more finesse blocking scheme. The running back searches for the hole and did not seem to be a hand in the dirt blow you off the ball O. We seemed to defend it pretty well. I know their OL was young and having issues as well however. USCe just seemed to blow us off the LOS and was more power football. I was thinking our D like the rest of the team has strength issues so the results played into that. Finesse or power and looking ok instead of bad against the run. What do you guys think? Also, if this is accurate, how does it bode for us in the last three SEC games? All opinions matter and just want to see what you guys think.

Our LBs were awful and we have no OLB that can hold an edge with kongbo out. Kongbo was huge in auburn game early on. By the time we lost him auburn had to pass. Bama and SC clearly notice they can just run st Taylor and Johnson all day.

My solution just throw Peterson out there as a bigger body or put Bituli on edge and play sapp/Banks/DK/Ignont in middle

I often wonder about the combo of the number of snaps Todd Kelly played early in his career plus the lack of S&C. The good news for Todd Kelly is that is sounds like he's a bright kid who's heading to med school after his football days are done.

But Applewhite never gave Simms an opening. Brown looked for a chance during Simms freshman season to shoehorn him in and would have given him the job outright but Applewhite never slipped. Brown disregarded that and named Simms the starter the following season. Doesn’t resemble Saban starting and almost exclusively playing Hurts until the last half of the last game for all the marbles, in the least.

True. Applewhite got railroaded. Pretty awful to watch.

Still, the scenario reminded me of the Applewhite situation given the success Hurts had. Saban seemed to play above board, though. Brown did not.

They touched on this on the VQ podcast and how if Shamburger couldn’t see the field Saturday night, with TK struggling so much, then that’s a solid indicator that he’s “done” here. Mostly attitude related.

Which is a surprise to me. IIRC, he was one of the players that Pruitt named specifically when he became coach here. Said that he was one of the guys he was trying to recruit to bama.

Wasn't his snap count. Was poor practice habits of previous staff killing kids before gameday and not getting them strong enough to handle what they are going through. If you notice our kids now are getting stronger and holding up a lot better so far. There have been several times where I've thought oh crap We are losing a kid then they come back in game. Like JG knee vs auburn I have no idea how he survived that one hit with his knee. ChAndler knee went bad angle last game but came back. Kids bodies are being built to handle more

I don't get shamburger either. He plays well when in game it seems but he apparently doesn't think he should prepare for the games. He will make this secondary a lot better if he would give a crap

Good point! Thinking back now, this has happened quite a few times! Good grief did CbJ screw up the S&C!!

What's the deal with Eric Crosby? I almost forgot he existed. Has he seen the field at all?

Came in way overweight and out of shape which means no personal drive. He didn't have anyone pushing him last yr to get better. So he isn't probably a yr behind in development and probably will be shown the door

Going into the season, I would've thought Jennings, Callaway, Bituli, Warrior, and DWA would all be declaring for the NFL draft.

I still think callaway does. Jennings possibly. The rest have no business even thinking about it.
Or maybe...just maybe, these kids want to experience what winning is like here. Maybe coming back gives us an outside shot at the east next year? MAYBE
