Thank you, sir. That's honestly the only thing that I see when I watch our defense play.

Pruitt did say Sunday on his show that USCe was winning the game along the LOS and dominating us with 1 on 1 blocking. It honestly doesn't matter what formation you line up in when you accomplish that.

Bentley said in the post-game presser that our D keeps 2 deep Safeties...so they knew that the running game would work. That was their game plan. And it worked all game long. They ran the ball in the first half very well--so our depth was not the issue. We got a turnover once and scored. And didn't turn the ball over. WE did make a bunch of "unforced errors"....Pruitt did say 8 of our 9 penalties were self-inflicted.

Defensively--I want to see Banks play the entire game at ILB for #34 against Charlotte. There's just NO WAY he could play any worse.
Losing Flowers at Safety really hurt us....I hope 22 is back at Safety for the last 3 games....24 just can't play.... I wonder why we are not playing Theo Jackson more--he's played some in earlier games....but he can't play any worse than 24.

What makes it so frustrating for me is that we could've and should've won that game. We just didn't get any points on our last 2 possessions....

Personally--I wanted CJP to allow Cimaglia a chance to tie the game with a 52 yard FG attempt in the 4th QTR....that's the only coaching decision that I question.

GO VOLS!
i never would have thought safety would be an achilles heel this season.

not sure what's up wtih Theo, unless he's in the same boat as Shamburger. but i don't know that to be the case. TK never got over the injury. and it's doubtful he'll ever be up to his freshman form again.

so yeah,i hope abernathy is back. and i'm interested to see what Banks can do at LB as well. not sure i am ready to see him get that many snaps, but situationaly, yeah, there's spots to play him. run blitzes on 1st downs, 3rd down passing situations....

i'd like to see him get 10-15 snaps.

Don't you know that you can't blame young people for their lack of responsibility. Geez. Where have you been? It has to be the parents fault or the teachers fault.;)

Maybe it's the teachers parents fault.

I guess I'm weird because I've always taken responsibility for my own choices in life. Some of them bad, but that's OK, cuz that's how we learn.

Well, I certainly do respect your opinion....

I think Shamburger's attitude is his problem. I really thought he would be better--play better--be excited to play for a coach who really knows how to play and teach DBs to play the game. I think Thompson, Flowers, and Taylor form a great nucleus for our secondary in the next few years. We just need better players at Safety.

Concerning Banks and # of snaps--I don't think any snap he could take on the field would produce worse results than having 34 playing on the field. Maybe Banks could alternate in the game with Ignont while they kept 34 on the bench. It's just horrendous to watch 34 play--or fail to play his position. I think he made 1 or 2 plays in the whole game against USCe.

Our lack of talent of LB is just obvious. I hope we can get both Henry and To'oto

Yessir---I'm dead serious.... Watch the tape and specifically tell me how he could play worse than 34 did all game long.

our LB's as a group have been a liablity. the one thing DK brings to the table is captainship. he knows the calls, he knows how to get in and out of looks etc....Bituli and Taylor have both had games where they've looked great. and they've had games they've disappeared. Sapp the same. i wouldn't necessarily want Banks out there as the Mike. but could he play OLB or alongside DK?

yeah, sure.

i think maybe a better, more long term answer is to have JJ Peterson as your Mike, and then you can get creative with the rest of htem.

he's not there yet, i know.....but if Banks finds a permenant home at LB....you could have a very solid, but young, rotation of LB's

USCe did two things that were different than what we were expecting, and what we faced against a team like auburn.

the did go up tempo, which Auburn can/will do at times, but for USCe that was different....

the other thing was running the i formation with the two TE sets. htey'd put two te's on the same side, and still run the I.

they were getting to the 2nd level of our defense and we didn't come off blocks well at all, and we still saw the same issues with tackling we've had.

and we didn't really adjust to it all that great either.

A lot of those runs were aided by our LBs, especially with CJP playing double high safeties to protect those freshman CBs from Samuels and Edwards. Ignont and Sapp consistently failed to stay in their gaps or set the edge. Several times the SC RB found nothing inside but was able to bounce outside with no LB in sight. I also saw CJP lighting up his ILBs a few times, and I suspect it was for not aligning the defense properly.

make sense. not to get caught up in the nuts and bolts too much, but yeah, the LB's did not have a very good night at all.

I know what you're saying.....but you don't have to have #34 on the field making the calls.

Bituli could make the calls and Banks could play for 34. It has looked all season long that Bituli is actually the one who is getting our guys lined up anyway. At least it appeared that he was doing it from watching the film of the Fla game.

I had some hope that Ignont would look better and get to play more...but he hasn't. I honestly have never thought Kirkland was all that good--and have said so for years. He did play better as a FR--I don't know if his body is beat up or not....but he's a liability on the field in any capacity.

I've made my comments based on what CJP has said about Peterson's physical conditioning. I'd love to see him on the field, too.

Banks bring a physicality and aggressiveness to the field that NONE of our current LBs demonstrate--not even Bituli.

But you're probably right--it might be better to only play #33 at LB for 10-15 plays....I just want to see Banks flying around out there blowing people up. None of our current guys do that.

Talked about it a little on the podcast but they expect to see a lot of John Mincey this week. Both to rest some of our upper classmen, but also to get him some run. Hasn't really played since UTEP but the coaching staff are real high on him.

He played a number of snaps at South Carolina

What's the point of Banks flying around when he would be at the wrong place every play?

You ASSUME that he would be in the wrong place.

WE KNOW that 34 and 23 can do nothing even when they are in the right place.....I like my chances with the new guy....

When did you become so damn negative? You didn't used to be like that.

Apparently, Botch didn't just make a mess out of the team, he did a number on some forums members too.

However, fear not, we have a new leader, so hopefully some of the people that used to be good and positive posters will come back to their old ways.

I'd be perfectly fine with going with a guy like Hurts with the state of our OL at the moment. He'd only be a one-and-done, so it's not a long term commitment to a dual-threat QB system. The only problem is it'd take a spot from our recruiting class, (and it'd be really weird rooting for a guy who's absolutely torched us for a few years).

Really weird the juxtaposition of how coaches now are going about playing the best guy, versus the prototypical view of the QB being the leader of the team and locker room. Who knows how bringing on another GT-QB would affect the leadership dynamics with JG.
I just meant that it sounds about right that they’d test the waters. And see what there is to be had with this year’s crop of GT QBs.

Personally, I wouldn’t be opposed to Hurts because I think a running QB probably could help the OL in ways. I’d just be surprised by it because we haven’t really seen the staff target too many guys with that kind of skill set.
