With as much as Sapp and DK are playing inside and how mightily the OLBs have struggled since Kongbo went down, I’ve wondered if they’ll give Bituli some looks at OLB. He’d be a little undersized there, but I’m not sure he’d be much worse than Johnson has been against the run.Our LBs were awful and we have no OLB that can hold an edge with kongbo out. Kongbo was huge in auburn game early on. By the time we lost him auburn had to pass. Bama and SC clearly notice they can just run st Taylor and Johnson all day.
My solution just throw Peterson out there as a bigger body or put Bituli on edge and play sapp/Banks/DK/Ignont in middle
Talked about it a little on the podcast but they expect to see a lot of John Mincey this week. Both to rest some of our upper classmen, but also to get him some run. Hasn't really played since UTEP but the coaching staff are real high on him.
If we wind up adding a staff member next year, I believe Pruitt will turn to Joe O who is already in a support role. Pruitt loves Joe and I believe he will eventually give him a full time assistant position on the offensive side. I hope it's sooner rather than later. To elaborate on why I think it would make sense to find a spot for Clay Helton on our staff (in a scenario where he is canned at USC), he obviously knows the system we are trying to implement, and he coached at Memphis for roughly 10 seasons. Double whammy -- could recruit an area that we desperately need to do well in, and has intricate knowledge of the offense we hope to run here.
Which is a surprise to me. IIRC, he was one of the players that Pruitt named specifically when he became coach here. Said that he was one of the guys he was trying to recruit to bama.
