Under cool blue skies, Tennessee continued its prep for Charlotte on Tuesday.
The big news of the day was Jeremy Banks’ whereabouts, as the freshman was back with the tailbacks after all the hullabaloo about his move to linebacker. Just hours earlier on Tuesday, Daniel Bituli, Alexis Johnson and Carlin Fils-Aime talked about Banks being an important new piece at linebacker.
We don’t know if that experiment was simply put on pause or what, but Banks was working alongside Ty Chandler, Tim Jordan and Madre London on Tuesday.
At linebacker, Darrin Kirkland Jr. was practicing Tuesday. Micah Abernathy was still on the bike.
Elsewhere, Tracy Rocker was in a mood today, just berating both his unit and the scout team OL. Nothing anyone did satisfied him.
On the offensive line, Tennessee worked a bunch on different run plays, with the same group that went wire-to-wire (Tatum, Johnson, Johnson, Niehaus and Richmond). Interestingly, the 2s consisted of K’Rojhn Calbert at LT, Jerome Carvin at LG, Riley Locklear at center, Kingston Harris at RG and Nieahus at RT. Chance Hall took a couple reps but mostly observed the period.
With Jeremy Pruitt working with the group, the wideouts and quarterbacks went through multiple drills focusing on screens and quick passes. That’s no surprise after the South Carolina game. Jauan Jennings was dressed but had on tennis shoes and just watched from the sideline. I don’t expect Jennings to play Saturday, as he nurses a sore ankle. It’s a good week to rest him up and get him ready for the final three SEC games.
Kenneth George was back at practice working at cornerback.
JJ Peterson was on the scout team DL, with Will Friend giving him some compliments for his pass rush. Conversely, Greg Emerson was forced to run laps after loafing on a few scout team reps.
