Recruiting is mostly all that matters right now and for the next couple seasons. And of course developing the new players and the strength and conditioning program.

Pruitt brought in 25 of his guys almost a year ago. He’ll bring 25 this time around which puts us another class away from just about a full roster of his guys.

I expect next fall we’ll see improvement in all areas but still be relying on freshman and sophomores mostly. The future will become much brighter. Year 3 is when we should be back competing with UGA for the East. Enjoy the ride...

Extra practices are very important especially for guys like Flowers, peterson and banks(if at Lb).

I agree with everything but competing with GA in year 3. They're so far ahead and are building on it further. I think in year three we can be king of the tier 2 teams but I don't think we'll be much of a challenge, won't have the depth. If Pruitt recruits at a high level, our starters will match up but not much beyond that.

UGA is playing 2/3 FR and SO this year. We'll be doing that next year. Pruitt is in full search and replace mode. He's going to scrub the roster and develop young talent. UGA is going to be good for the foreseeable future-- by Year 4, we should be just as good... assuming we've been able to recruit elite players from this year forward.

As far as improvement goes:

1st 3 DL have definitely improved.
LB’s- Marginal. Kirkland is what he is due to injury.
DB’s- definite improvement. Warrior can’t catch a cold, but he is better this year. Buchanan has improved to this point as well.

OL- Not much
QB- definitely
RB- OL makes it hard to, but Jordan has done a good job of getting up field of late and Chandler has been big in the pass game.
WR- Yes. Palmer in particular.

Great post

I'll wait to form a final judgment on the OL until after the season.
Just a week ago we would have said they had improved. I just think yesterday was cluster nonmotivated day with the coach having his team unprepared and pulling players left and right. Throw it out almost since last week was vastly different

Agree on Kongbo. Not perfect but he set the edge decently well, took up space, and applied pressure. Plus he was getting better. Looking at our version of the 3-4 now versus Bama and our guys on the end look really small even Taylor. Phillips looks the part as far as size

Sounds like a lot of posters are where I am with Pruitt. Let’s ride with him and accept the fact there will be lumps in the early years.

It may seem counterintuitive, but I think sticking with Pruitt through thick and thin for 5 or 6 years is a quicker path to relevance than throwing him out on his bum if he doesn’t win 9+ ball games in year 3. No one elite wanted the job last November, and no one will next time as well. Gotta pick our horse and run with it.

We always hear how players love Pruitt but there will be some give up. We don't have the beef to match up with the big boys and some will quit some will want to be around for the long haul to prove they can. Just hope we can scheme to win couple of the last 3 .

I’m sort of hoping Snell is a little dinged up and UK has hard time recovering from yesterday’s disappointment. I think that’s what we need to beat them. I’m not confident on who wins but am thinking it will be a 17-14 type game.

We beat UK and I’m feeling pretty good about making a bowl. We lose and I honestly think we may end with 8 losses.

Disagree wholeheartedly. They’ve proven they can scheme around it and move the football. What’s interesting is that sometimes they choose not to do so.

It’s like they’re saying “do it my way and do it successfully or the team will fail” instead of “okay, we’ll do it the way you’re comfortable for now in order to be our best.” I think there are pros and cons to both.

I like this post. If this is true, and it seems like it is, then the Charlotte game is a good example of the former, and Auburn (and USC?) are examples of the latter scheme. We're going to need all players at their best for the last three games, that's for sure.

I’d consider last class about half his guys - he honored some commits and started very late. Good thing is we know they will be developed and have a good S&C. We are still 3 years from having the depth we need across the board. Plus we should never rely on freshmen to contribute at their potential.

It’s amazing how critical we are of freshmen because we have had to be. The Trey Smith’s of the world are rare. Plus it helps freshmen to be surrounded by seasoned talent.

It’s why Pruitt gets 4 or 5 years minimum.

This roster is equal to or better than our next 3 opponents. Must win 2
Hell no. Might be equal to Vandy, but KY and Mizzou have size and speed that we don’t have right now. NFL talent as well. Plus they have coaches that have been there for at least 3 years and recruited their guys.

IDT UK is going to have a hangover. I think they're going to come to Knoxville determined to break that last embarrassing streak and beat the Vols in Neyland for the first time since 1984. I think they'll be on a mission. I still don't think they're as good as the media built them up to be, but they'll be hard to stop. The Vols know how to do it, but it'll take more mettle than they've shown the past two games.

This is the difference at the moment.
It isn't talent. It's an established scheme and a mindset of winning (for Kentucky).

We need Kentucky to play with a hangover to win and I think they will.

We need Mizzu to play like they have in all of their SEC games expect Florida.

We need Vandy to be Vandy

2/3 is the line in the sand for this season.

I think they have played with a "Hangover" for 2 weeks now.
I think it continues.
