I agree with this. The reality is no one in our program in their current position knows how to win consistently. Let alone win consistently at a high level. Fulmer never done it in his current position and no one on the sideline has either. It will take time to get that clicking. Especially with the lack of talent on this roster when Pruitt got here. I'm not saying he'll take us to a Natty. But I think he'll have us in the running for the East by year 4. And in my opinion that's the first step. And it’s about overcoming our loser mindset. I think a big problem this year is Pruitt not really knowing how to cope with a bunch of players that seemingly don’t like to play football.
I just think that the OL is horrible, and when the most important position group on a football team is horrible, then we get what we got yesterday, and what we've gotten all year. Yes, they've had their moments; but, they've been few and far between.Nebraska almost beat Ohio State yesterday.
I think it's more what Callaway said, that they just didn't take the team seriously.
It's sad when a good many Division II teams have better OL than us. I understand Pruitt's frustration.I just think that the OL is horrible, and when the most important position group on a football team is horrible, then we get what we got yesterday, and what we've gotten all year. So the players all of a sudden weren’t good enough to produce against Charlotte after producing against auburn and SC on the road.... no chance the coaches has a lazy and piss poor game plan on offense?
Niehaus, Tatum, Locklear...nothing against these kids at all, they just should have never been on an SEC roster; maybe somewhere like...Charlotte, or Cincy, or Central Michigan. And then add losing Smith and Kennedy to that, nothing good. There's a reason a few DLmen have been moved to the OL, there's no talent, nor depth, there; and that adds up to what we've been seeing all year.I kind of thought that it was our insane schedule. Our OL actually have played better against ranked teams than yesterday. Losing Trey has hurt, obviously, even if he wasn't 100 percent by any means.
The OL did squat against the Barn in the run game like they did squat against Charlotte. A few back-shoulder Hail Mary’s down the sidelines doesn’t constitute “producing”... especially considering JG got destroyed on EVERY. SINGLE. THROW.
Even with him the o line was back on their heels and thinking every play vs firing off the ball at the snap and making the initial contactI kind of thought that it was our insane schedule. Our OL actually have played better against ranked teams than yesterday. Losing Trey has hurt, obviously, even if he wasn't 100 percent by any means.
The QB getting hit doesn’t always fall on the OL....so again i ask... why ask your OL to continue to do something they aren’t great at. You did fine moving the ball relying on short and quick passing game so why go away from it? That’s on the coaches.
