Recruiting Forum Football Talk [RIP 9.3.2019]

Since this is the recruiting forum, I liked what Doug Mathews had to say today about CJP and recruiting. Said that we had 21 spots but CJP would make room for 25. Also said that some of the commitments will be asked to look elsewhere. Two Memphis recruits are getting a lot of attention from CJP and one is a running back. Wonder who he means????? EG maybe? I am optimistically looking forward to the recruiting class coming up...……...more so than others.

The QB getting hit doesn’t always fall on the OL....so again i ask... why ask your OL to continue to do something they aren’t great at. You did fine moving the ball relying on short and quick passing game so why go away from it? That’s on the coaches.

Not every snap, but Guarantano’s getting beat up is more on them than him. They can’t pass protect or run block, so what do you ask them to do? SEC defenses catch on and start sitting on those short routes. That’s generally why they’d go away from it, to avoid interceptions and such.

So what is the outlook on KC? If he didn't play yesterday, he probably won't see the field again this season. Can only imagine what this kid is thinking... could have actually played somewhere else this year... this has basically been a waste for him. You can either be in the KC or JG camp, that is fine, but I think KC was sold a bill of goods.
And don't say JG has played at that much of a higher level to keep KC off the field. I know we have two more years of JG and they are giving him experience, but they haven't even given KC a chance during a game to prove he can play... wait, NM, he came in against AL and put points on the board and moved the offense down the field...
Get over yourself with your JG hate. We will never know what they told him. For all intents and purposes, he was given sufficient reps to prove he was good enough to unseat the incumbent starter. He wasn't. They might have been close, but you don't take out the starter unless you're clearly better. HE. IS. NOT. CLEARLY. BETTER. It really is as simple as that. I do appreciate him coming here and competing and trying to make the team better. I wish him all the best in whatever he decides to do. We still might need him with this OL. We have three very tough games remaining.

Defensively, just a couple final observations. I’m not sure how many snaps Mincey played (couldn’t have been more than 10-12), but he really flashed. He forced pressures twice and had two other sticks right at the line. He’s going to be a good player. Tennessee played a lot of base 3-4 or heavy 4-3 packages Saturday. That made sense considering Charlotte wanted to run the ball and shorten the game. Jordan Allen had to have played a career-high in snaps. JJ Peterson even got on the field at OLB during the last series of the game. I said DK had his best game of the season, and the same could be said about Todd Kelly Jr. Since the 49ers had little interest in throwing, Kelly was a solid safety in run support.

Encouraging about Mincey, considering the DL losses after the season.
