Correct and running out the clock was just fine up 10-0 and getting the ball.

I know many others never like being that conservative but we were very conservative there

Pruitt trusts his defense a lot and is going to be very conservative at the end of the first halves. I noticed rewatching the game Pruitt lit into Helton after that bubble screen pass to JJ that was almost picked off on the first play of the drive.

Agreed. We called the time out on defense to have the opportunity.

Field position when we got the ball back dictated what happened next.

We got Chandler's run, and it worked out.

But I liked the way we managed that whole situation.

Now for my other decision.

You liked the punt from the 34 on 4th and 3?

Well, conservative with a splash of aggressiveness.

You call the to on defense to have the opportunity. That's a little aggressive if you really have no intention of doing anything with the ball.

But if you wind up with the field position, you've at least given yourself a chance.

Then you get the run. All bets are off..

Hail Mary is never a high percentage play...neither is a 50+ field goal. We were getting the ball first in the second half so Pruitt swung big...great decision!

I don't think anyone is saying we should have played for a 50yd plus kick. I am
Saying use one more play to try to get to the 30 and if we didn't make try an Hail Mary then

Pretty excited with our potential linebacker core next season. Bituli, Banks, Peterson, Kirkland, Ignont and potentially Pappoe will make for a heck of a unit. Add that in with Taylor and Thompson at corner, Warrior and Jackson and safety, and I'm pretty exited about the defense all together. Will just need the line to come along.

Well Yes. It was quite an accomplishment for Helton to maintain his poise and call the place to score from my view. :)

This is me going off previous pre halftime possessions and how Pruitt was in his ear but I think the Hail Mary was 100% Helton.

I'll be honest I'm not remembering the situation... So I guess I was lol.

Refresh my memory...

Up 3-0 in the 2nd Qt

We punted on 4th and 3 from their 34. We did have a great punt but their punter ended up flipping the field position against us so it really didn't end up helping us in the field Position battle

I should have known many here couldn't have a civil honest discussion of questionable decisions of a game where the outcome was favorable.

Carry on but I damn sure how we try for a FG next time we are in the spot instead of a hail marry

They try to gauge ranges in pre-game warm-ups. I think the punt from the 34 goes to show that they didn't feel confident with him kicking towards the north end zone. They probably thought they needed more yards than they could get in 6 seconds. Just my guess.

We dont have very good backs on this roster.

My son told me after the game it was the most fun he's had at a UT game. We were at Auburn and Florida game in 2016. To be honest, he got sick at Florida game so that's why it wasn't as fun but he said he just loved how they played and the home crowd and how we just kicked their tail. I hope we get to see more wins and enjoy them in the future. I like what I am seeing and do feel CJP is the coach we needed. Will have some ups and downs but will support him and the program.
I love @JacketVol

One week, “This program’s not getting any of my money.”

A lil while later... “YAY!”

Imo the Hail Mary was really dumb and really lucky. I thought we should have run a short route, called our last TO and kicked a FG. If we throw an incomplete pass throw the Hail Mary on the next play. 6 seconds is plenty of time for that.

It just depends on matchups and opponent. I'll take JJ, Callaway, and Palmer in the endzone for a hail mary jump ball against DBs like UK's over Cimaglia trying a 50+ yarder on a cold November day.
