Actually, Freeze could roll the dice himself and turn UT down. UT moves on Chip and bingo, the Auburn job is sitting there vacant. That wouldn't necessarily mean Pruitt effed up.

If this is Hugh's plan, it could in turn backfire on him if he wakes up, neither the UT or Auburn positions are open, and he's on the outside looking in.
Nah. Bama job could open up when/if locksley gets hired

You can't blame him. You don't know what Pruitt has told him. He may have told him he wanted to wait on what Chip said. Freeze says I'm gonna wait to see what Nick says.

At that moment Pruitt F’d up and Alabama because more dominant.i just hope Pruitt sees this whole playing field of what could unfold which ever way he choices to go,I believe there is only one correct way to go in all of this,do whatever it takes to get freeze.

I liked it a whole lot better when we were deciding whether or not we should take a chance on Freeze because he really wanted to come here as compared to he really wants to go to Auburn so he is waiting on us to create a spot for him.
When left to our own devices, this is what happens.

Mack's staff updates

Apparently he just caved to negative backlash on his D.C. Choice Greg Robinson. And is no longer hiring him as D.C. Weak move. Make the hire you think is right and tell everyone to shove it. Right or wrongness you made your pick so deal with it

If Hugh waits through the weekend, he possibly gets a shot at the Bama job sometime next week. That is unless he has real disdain for Bama and doesn't want it. By waiting, Hugh gets his pick of some other opportunities next week. By waiting, Lindsey gets an extra $100K tomorrow. Maybe Hugh wants Auburn so he can beat Bama at the end of every year. Maybe Hugh thinks he could get a promotion at AU if they get Gus out next year. Maybe Hugh wants to coach at UT and is grateful that Fulmer and Pruitt would give him a shot.

Hugh is the best we know of. But, does his baggage, the short term of his stay, him wanting a different job, and unknown with how he fits too much for him to come?

Chip may be a very, very good hire. Does his fit with Pruitt, the assumption that he will be here longer end up making him a safer, but still very quality hire that could propel UT forward sooner rather than later?

If it's not one of these guys at this point, then I'm going to need to be convinced.
I don’t think it’s s fair assumption Chip would be here longer than Freeze. You have to go back to 2004 on Lindsey’s resume to find a position he stayed at for longer than 2 years.

But at that point you have to wonder if saban feels Enos is worthy of the promotion and makes him OC,that takes out one destination for freeze, I seriously think all of this points to auburn.

I think we're getting a little too ahead of ourselves here...the Auburn job isn't even open, if it opens, sounds like Chip is coming our way, and if it doesn't, it sounds like Freeze is the guy. Y'all have too much BVS to think that somehow we're going to miss on our top targets for OC. Pruitt is just doing his due diligence IMO.

That's fair. I'm being extremely optimistic that if Freeze is here, that he has the type of year in year 1 that could get him a head coaching job after next year.

At this point, anyone but CHF is going to feel like a gut punch to a big chunk of the fanbase. It would mean that we most likely wind up with a coach that fans who don't spend half their time on VN have never heard of and CHF winds up at AU, BAMA, or FSU, any of which would be a sour pill.

I'm curious to if what could be in thought process is Dan Enos vs Freeze. Pruitt liked Enos the first time around as an option. If Bama were to hire Freeze then Enos becomes realistic. At this point I feel good if we come away with one of Freeze, Enos, Lindsey.

Yeah, any of those is fine, and I think UT is above Aubie in the pecking order, given the circumstances, so I think Pruitt gets at least his second preference of those three.

On the VQ podcast, the only 3 guys even talked about for OC, were Freeze, Kitchens, and Lindsey. For Kitchens they seemed to disregard it quickly, assuming that he will remain in the NFL. It seems telling given some of the other names mentioned.

This is the vid that sold me on freeze, he owns all of it numerous times, doesnt run from anything, faces his shame like a man, its tough to watch if u have any heart at all, starts at around 47 min mark, has no mic for about a min then it gets louder

listen to what he says in the 51st minute

I was sold on Freeze when he beat alabama, once.

I know that,I was referencing to the fact of Pruitt more than likely hiring chip over freeze because him and chip are buddies.i want the best candidate out there to be hired,I am tired of the buddy system bs.
And it’s not a VOL thing. Pruitt’s seen the model of dispassionate hiring from Saban. I think it’s more a trust thing with him than someone he can do shots with. If he hires Freeze and they hate working with each other, it’ll hurt the team also. So if they gelled in the meeting and Pruitt feels he can leave that side of the ball relatively alone? We’ll hear something today imo.

That seems like a factor in the change too -- the amount of attention Pruitt had to give to helping with coaching the offense.

I agree except it might be tomorrow.

Let me clarify the buddy system comment was a shot at butch because of how hired within😂😂
