Right. Nobody other than vol fans even know we're looking for an oc. There is no reason to be embarrassed by how long it's taking. Hahahaha

I ran this meme past my fellow Vol fan and nephew over the holidays. He just kind of tilted his head and said, in so many words, "oh yeah, think about it, he doesn't want a promotion?" I got to admit the notion is somewhat nonsensical.

promoting friend doesn't bother me at all, except for the fact we could have done that 6 weeks ago. he's probably the best fit, provides the most continuity, and he does have experience. that hire won't be a bad one, it would just be the process that leads to that hire should be questioned.......

i still don't think it's going to be him though.

he makes $800k to coach a position. it's not that hard to figure it out.......lol.

I don't think that he does have experience. Even if he was the OC at CSU, that was Bobo's offense. I think that's extremely risky. We need a proven guy who can run the show. We need a guy who knows how to gameplan and how to make adjustments and now to get the most out of our lack of offensive talent that we currently have. I don't think Friend is that.

Yeah, and OC pays what 1.25 mil. Doesn't send a good message for a coach to hang in their resting on his laurels. That's a swing and a miss.

i think friend was/has been, and likely will be, involved in the game planning offensively.

the only thing he hasn't had to do full time is call the whole game.

Friend is a very unsexy hire. at least as unsexy as deboard.

but i don't think it'd be bad

People associated Pruitt coaching him hard to him not liking or pushing Sham out of the program.

Sham was in that picture with all the top recruits the weekend before ESD so its doubtful he would be a host/recruiting if he wasn't a team guy.

I think I remember someone saying he wasn’t calling plays at CSU, so he doesn’t have any play calling experience that I’m aware of.

I would think that Pruitt is aware of these risks, hence the low chance he actually promotes Friend to OC.

If you are in Knox, I would recommend American Shamans products off Lovell Rd. Best quality around for now. Keep an eye out for Bluhen Botanicals in the coming months. It is up and running but not on the retail side just yet.

I read this as well. He apparently did not call plays which is probably why he hasn't already been promoted.
