I can't fault a guy for sticking with his experience for less money and less stress. I wouldn't take a promotion unless I had a real fire for it, regardless of the pay bump (since 800k is plenty comfortable living wage).Yeah, and OC pays what 1.25 mil. Doesn't send a good message for a coach to hang in their resting on his laurels. That's a swing and a miss.
i agree. i think if Pruitt were gung ho on Friend as OC, he'd of found a way to make it happen a long time ago.I’m not sure Pruitt wants to straight up promote him. He values Friend’s insight and inserted it into Helton’s gameplans last year. But I basically think he wants an outsider so that the new OC can work with Friend.
at this point, who do you blame? Phil or Jeremy? Phil because he allowed a first time head coach to procrastinate? Or jeremy because he is procrastinating?
They've beaten me down with this search. At this point, I would be happy if we did something like promote Osovet to a position coach and try him out as passing game coordinator with Friend as run game coordinator. Get Friend's experience with Osovet's innovation. Might work out alright.promoting friend doesn't bother me at all, except for the fact we could have done that 6 weeks ago. he's probably the best fit, provides the most continuity, and he does have experience. that hire won't be a bad one, it would just be the process that leads to that hire should be questioned.......
i still don't think it's going to be him though.
Just hard for me to see Pruitt wanting to play Russian Roulette with his first HC job like this, especially since he dodged one with Helton. They've beaten me down with this search. At this point, I would be happy if we did something like promote Osovet to a position coach and try him out as passing game coordinator with Friend as run game coordinator. Right now, Tennessee is like that dude with a bit of a belly on 'em trying to get that girl way out of his league. You know if you play your cards right that she might think you're cute enough to get with.. she'll give you confidence, have you eating right and hittin' the gym.. but if you say that one wrong thing, you'll be stuck eating potato chips, pizza rolls and before you know it, you're 400lbs and 50 years old living off welfare.SIAP, but Basilio was saying on his show today that we'll know tonight if Chaney is our OC or if he's staying at UGA. Take the source with a grain of salt since it's Tony, but thought that was interesting and coincided with Brice's report. Tony also said he believes UT has made a run at Chaney. Seems to think Chaney has two offers on the table, one from us and one from UGA.
