Those “nfl throws” are such a myth now dude.

.

Another stat from the 2017 NFL season:

Alex smith , Kirk cousins, and Luke Mccown were the some of the top deep ball passers last year and no one considers them having great arms by no stretch. Guys like eli and Flacco who were considered great nfl “throwers” have regressed so much the more the nfl has went to an intermediate passing game.

I saw a graph last year that said like 80% of throws in the nfl are below 8 yards now. The completion % is just so low on balls over 20+ that teams aren’t busying them as much.

Matt Ryan’s stats on balls 20+ air yards last year.

2017: 19comp on att66 (28.8%), 600 Yards, 4 TD, 2 INT, 72.5 QBRat

So in 342 completions only 19 of them actually were completed past 20 yards.

I didn’t go back and fact check all those sources so flame away if they are off but QB is becoming easier and easier to play in today’s football. That’s why there hasn’t been as many just flat out busts recently in the draft too.

Jared Goff was god awful for Jeff fisher but a creative offensive mind shows up and he’s the next great thing.
Then why is bama gonna bench hurts for the inexperienced guy with the better arm? Why did the Jets and Browns draft 2 of the best deep ball passers in the top 3 picks of the draft? Why did the Chiefs let Alex Smith go for Pat Mahomes? Brady, Brees and Rodgers may throw it short a lot, but they also have 3 of the best arms in football so not sure that helps yer point as much as you act like.

Too bad SEC Nation will be broadcasting from Charlotte. The SEC Network has been overwhelmingly bearish on UT and it just gives them a gameday platform to sell us short. To set the tone, Finebaum will probably interview Depth Chart Dana on Friday and he can whine some more about the unfairness OR unjustness OR inequity of it all.
Perfect. Let the brilliant talking heads run their mouths...they won't be able to swallow their words fast enough.

Alex smith was statistically the best deep ball passer in the league last year. Josh Mccown was top 3 for the jets. Arm strength doesn’t always translate to great deep thrower. A lot of it is about touch. Brady has far from a cannon.

Here is the link. Alex smith was 1st and Josh Mccown was 3rd

You didn't answer the questions.

You didn't answer the questions.

The chiefs didn’t let Alex smith go because he wasn’t successful throwing deep passes or because jets didn’t draft Darnold because Mccown couldn’t push the ball down field. Those two were both top 3 in deep passing. So that has nothing to do with anything.
