Unless JG really looks good this year, we'd be foolish for not making a run at Hurts. I know it's hard for some of you to see something for what it is, but if you put Hurts on this team along with a really good running game to begin with, and a Pruitt defense, we're in serious contention for the east next year. It's not hard.

The chiefs didn’t let Alex smith go because he wasn’t successful throwing deep passes or because jets didn’t draft Darnold because Mccown couldn’t push the ball down field. Those two were both top 3 in deep passing. So that has nothing to do with anything.
Their systems are designed for deep passes so they went out and got qbs who had potential to be better at throwing deep passes.

He threw one interception last season. One. Pruitt wants the QB who can make plays on occasion, which Hurts has, and will protect the football, which he's done. He's also thrown 40 TD passes, ran for 1,800 yards, and 21 TD runs. And we have turds on here saying they'd rather have JT Shrout lol.

No...I do not. It is claptrap revisionism, and no mount of long winded, academic, "smart" sounding posts from you are going to make me see otherwise.

Also Tua is an elite QB prospect. He won the elite 11 if I’m not mistaken. Just because he beat out hurts doesn’t mean hurts is ass all of a sudden.
Do you think Tua's elite arm talent had anything to do with him being an elite qb prospect and winning the elite 11. Do you think his arm talent has anything to do with him beating out Hurts. Hurts has only lost what 1 game and has all these great stats you mention and you always say things like you don't need elite qbs to win anymore. All that would seem to favor hurts. Why is he probably gonna lose his job?

My whole point was Tua is that good. He’s by far the best qb saban has had at bama. It’s not close. That doesn’t mean hurts is that bad it’s just he is getting beat out by an elite QBs prospect. There’s no shame in that.

Nathan peterman got beat out by Dobbs. That doesn’t mean peterman was trash.

It just baffles me that posters on here act like hurts shouldn’t even be a D1 QB lol. It’s insane.

Those “nfl throws” are such a myth now dude.

.

Another stat from the 2017 NFL season:

Alex smith , Kirk cousins, and Luke Mccown were the some of the top deep ball passers last year and no one considers them having great arms by no stretch. Guys like eli and Flacco who were considered great nfl “throwers” have regressed so much the more the nfl has went to an intermediate passing game.

I saw a graph last year that said like 80% of throws in the nfl are below 8 yards now. The completion % is just so low on balls over 20+ that teams aren’t busying them as much.

Matt Ryan’s stats on balls 20+ air yards last year.

2017: 19comp on att66 (28.8%), 600 Yards, 4 TD, 2 INT, 72.5 QBRat

So in 342 completions only 19 of them actually were completed past 20 yards.

I didn’t go back and fact check all those sources so flame away if they are off but QB is becoming easier and easier to play in today’s football. That’s why there hasn’t been as many just flat out busts recently in the draft too.

Jared Goff was god awful for Jeff fisher but a creative offensive mind shows up and he’s the next great thing.

NFL arm for a 10 yard out can be a 25 yard plus throw man.

The best thing possible for the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday is for the media to continue to blow smoke up Will Grier and West Virginia’s ass.

We are going to hit them in the mouth and never look back.

Dude why am I agreeing with you so much lately? I wouldn’t be shocked to see Chandler or Jordan to house one early
