They was a bunch of biscuit eaters having more injuries that any other time I can remember. Now Pruitt got them on that cornbread tho. And Fitz changing bodies into well built war machines.

Its night and day. They all look bigger than last year. I know there wasn't any discipline from coaches nor players in actually lifting weights.

Mehlen would not have won 10 games at TN last year so your point is moot
prolly not, but would he have won more than 5? With his elite playcalling and a good DC, I believe so.

But this is what we signed up for, isn't it? We knew Pruitt was a 1st time hc and would take time to get the right staff and processes. Mullen was way ahead in that regard. We are playing the long game. That could be Mullen's ceiling at UF for all anyone knows.

He hired a bunch of our leftovers. So you might wanna hold off on pulling down the zipper on his MC Hammer khakis.

VQ reporting Kenneth George suspended indefinitely.

Hopefully it resolves in the kids favor. Idk how he’s developing as a player but the stories of how he worked in juco etc made me root for the young man.

Last guy off the team because of legal issues was Thaxton and I still don’t think he’s found a landing spot.

Experience is much better at ILB than DL and you need fewer bodies, though.

Ignont and Bituli aren’t world beaters, but they’re not terrible, they’re known quantities, and they’re experienced. We bring in 2 highly regarded prospects there. We have a decent idea of what we’ll look like at ILB this year.

On DL, it’s basically Taylor, Gooden, and a bunch of question marks.
All our ILBs are awful at coverage. We were constantly picked on there especially against Missouri and candy.

Who all did he hire? I only remember the DB coach, but I thought he was pretty good. Finally got us turning our heads. Minus Justin Martin, who is still busy getting burned by Florida.

Larry Scott. I’d say we have an edge this season everywhere except DC (with Ansley unproven but promising). And maybe slightly at OC depending on who you ask. Mullen coached the better talent better last season...pretty much it.

One of the weakest statistics I’ve seen

The absurdities of the neo-big data era.

Love when Van Gundy goes off on this. The silly mid-game statistics spouted such as, "Carmelo is the first ever 35 year old wearing non-Nike shoes to ever shoot over 50% from 3 during the bloodmoon!". It's ridiculous the "stats" they pull these days as if there is any correlation or meaning to them!

Scott is at TEs. Don't think his position coaching was ever a question.

Biggest question is if we can develop at Mullen's level. That is one thing he really excelled at at MSU. Time will tell.

Mullen has natties to show for his playcalling, I think he is clearly above Chaney imo. Chaney is good, but certainly not elite. But I like Pruitt's defense over Grantham. Pruitt is top notch at what he does and I think Ansley will just be mimicking Pruitt. Like you said, maybe a wash overall.

But I think Mullen topped out in recruiting, while Pru+Tee+Nieds+Ansley can take us to an unforeseen level.

The offense would’ve been better because Helton was terrible. But what game would we have won with a slightly improved offense? Every game we lost was a slaughter except SC. Grantham isn’t a better DC than Pruitt so the defense would’ve been worse, not better.

cmon at miss st? With Alabama in your division? An absurd bar to set. I don't know if Belichick or Saban could pull that off. Would highly bet against it.

Context.
Honestly, after looking up his record at MS, I was a little surprised that he only had 1 winning season in conference.
I truly get that it's Mississippi State but his 1 superb season was somewhat of an outlier for SEC play.
Better than what we had most of the time but still surprised me.
