With a team of veterans. ZERO excuse for that. None.
Yeah there is...nerves resulting from the unfathomable pressure put on them by themselves, and us to do something that no Vol team has ever done...gone to the Final Four...they simply wanted it too bad.

It is not an excuse, it is just the way it was. I refuse to call it a choke because they clawed back despite there issues, and actually in reality won the game...it was stolen from them..that is a fact.

Yeah..that was the guy.

Do any of you guys remember what happened with Pat Martin? I thought his story was similar.

I thought Martin left soon after arriving because he had a small child back home and wanted to help with that but I’m not sure.

My concern with JJP is the same as yours. Typically during spring practice everyone looks like an All American according to VQ and others. If one guy’s toughness is already being questioned then it must be bad.

I'm not concerned about his seeming lack of progress, but at the reports that seem to point to him being another one of..those kind of guys..

Do you know what I mean by that? You know the kind of guys we have been plagued with for years now?

I hope he is not another one of..those kind of guys..

You do make a valid and encouraging point about his weight loss..but..

Another worry is the steroid issue...

We REALLY need this guy to live up, at least closely to expectations eventually...we have had far too many guys come here and flame out..
Part of college football...or just football itself. Not a program escapes the “promising player that fails to deliver”. That’s why there’s already a term set up for it.

Obvious lack of effort and softness being repeatedly reported will deservedly get you killed on VN..we have seen enough of that BS in the last decade to last a lifetime...

I am sick of it...Any dude with that attitude just needs to get in, or get the hell out..
I wonder how many good players in Tennessee history had bad starts to their careers and eventually toughened up and overcame it. It must be tough for players nowadays having reports of every practice put online. In the past all we would’ve heard about JJ at this point is “he’s not ready yet and needs more work.”

Good point

Alontae Taylor will be a 1st round pick. Calling that right now.

LOL based on what?! The kid has played one season and got burned plenty of times, not knowing where he was... I am confident our staff will develop him to his full potential, but that's pretty lofty...

"Trying to learn the players so that you know what kind offense will work best"
What a concept. Finally...

Liked his answer about leaving Ga for TN. Of course I'm sure the huge paycheck didn't hurt.

It's easy to overlook sometimes, but wowowow this coaching staff.

Chaney
Tee
Ansley
Friend
Nieds
Rumph
Sherrer
Rocker
YAC
Weinke

When the fan-perceived "weakest" link in that staff is a former Heisman coaching his position, we're golden.
