That UCLA game was brutal, for Crompton, and also the coaches. Didn't Kiffin call the same exact play like three times straight in the RZ at the end of the game? I don't know if I'm making that memory up or what.

Florida was supposed to obliterate us, but we played slow and methodically and only lost by 10 in the swamp.
Beat Georgia.
Bama was painful.

What else did I repress from that year?

No he definitely did. That goal one possession was pathetic.
Beat Georgia isn’t good enough, we dominated them and South Carolina that year and should’ve beat #1 Alabama and Auburn.

What are you talking about?

When is the last time we had two two first round selections on one side of the ball?
When is the last time we had multiple NFL players along the same OL?

Luke Stocker is still in the league, denarius Moore had 3 years of 600yds and 5 TDS for the raiders, Chris Scott started several games for the panthers. Montori Hughes played a good roll for the colts, Dallas Thomas started a lot of games for the dolphins.

Do you really like kiffin or something? Bc that’s without a doubt the best overall roster we have had here since fulmer. Not sure how you think they didn’t underachieve.

2011-2013 OL.

I don’t remember D-Mo, Hughes, or Thomas contributing much at all in 2009.

I don’t think anybody likes Kiffin, but that roster wasn’t great either. 2016 roster was best since Fulmer. Like the 2009 roster, most of the rosters since Fulmer’s latter years have had glaring holes.

2013 when we had James, Fulton, and Stone

Hughes started 1 game for the Colts and was out of the league in 2 years, Scott was a below average OL and Stocker is an alright blocking TE

Not enough top end talent to overcome the severe depth Issues and 2 260lb walk on OL.

10 win expectation isn’t accurate. Weren’t we picked to finish 4th or 5th in the East?

If the last part of that article is true I just lost a ton of respect for him.

Was asked about his show cause last week and he turned it into an answer about racism in the 70’s. That’s really disrespectful to people who ACTUALLY have been subjected to racism in our history.

Not going to get into a discrimination discussion, but Pearl is Jewish. His heritage has been discriminated against.

That said, I agree with mostly everyone else- I loved Bruce when he was here. But it was apparent at UT that he like to stretch/break the rules and play the game. He is with an SEC opponent now, and it's time to move on. We have a good coach.

Picking nits here, but Stone went undrafted. Still played in the NFL, but nothing meaningful. I remember he had the worst time snapping the ball as a center. So many snaps at the QB's feet as an underclassman.

As far as what pre-season expectations were.. I think the "we underachieved" narrative came after the season ended, with close losses like UCLA and Bama weighing on the balance sheet, we were a playcall and an uninjured kicker away from being 9-4 (5-3) and 2nd in the East.. Georgia finished that year 2nd in the East at 8-5 (4-4) and we were 3rd at 7-6 (4-4).. honestly a pretty good year all things considered.

You don’t have to have a pro bowler at every position to be a good team.

D-Mo had 40 catches and 540 receiving yards. Hughes had to go to prep school, so he wasn't a typical freshman in 2009. I recall he had an impact. Stats say he played all 13 games and had 20 tackles.

The one thing about that Kiffin roster was that the standouts were spread out at different positions instead of having standouts on just offense or defense. The OL can be cohesive if you have several really good ones, especially if the good ones are at tackle.

No.

I get there's always the standard optimism of "[New Coach] gets it," or "[New Coordinator] has a lot of experience." But I'd like to think we learned from being sold Butch's snake oil. No one ever said Brady Hoke was a huge hire-- same with Walt Wells at OL, Larry Scott being promoted to OC, Charlton Warren at DB.. Shoop yes, but his progress was poisoned by Butch's micromanagement.

Kiffin was young, brash, and not ready for a premier program. Dooley was more of a talk show host than a head football coach. Butch was a weenie who tried covering it up with a nice watch collection.

I said it yesterday. This staff from top to bottom is as real as it gets. Our 'weak link' is a guy that won Heisman and is coaching his position.

All three former coaches have glaring personality/character flaws that prevent them from being successful head coaches in the SEC. Jury is still out on Pruitt but he strikes me as an old-school, no-nonsense "footbaw" coach who doesn't really care about anything except winning games.

Agreed. I'm all in on Pruitt, but I was foolishly all in on both Kiffin and Butch (cut me some slack, I'm still in my 20's!). The original comment that I was replying to was talking about Ansley and Chaney, though. And I don't know how anyone can compare this staff to the support staffs we've had in the past.

Sure.play him the full 40 minutes no breaks you’re not even factoring in bone might be gone and turner not being a very good point guard at all.

They will recruit another guard if Bone leaves. I am guessing they don't know that right now. They can't offer the kid if they don't have room right now.

Have no issue with it. We are bringing in a 5 star guard. Unless they push guys out, there isn't much room left. With any open scholarships, they are looking for players at the 3, 4, and 5. Good for him.

ask Kentucky if they would take Chris lofton back, two different skill set players but still this could be one of those possibilities.i don’t buy into hype at all usually but this kid can play

Hindsight is 20/20. How many kids that left haven't made much of an impact?

Not sure why people are criticizing our coaches' evaluation skills after what we have been through the last 4 years.

Lol wut? That team was 5-7 and we were 11th in the SEC in PPG offensively

Your argument is that with the 11th ranked scoring offense and a bad defense we could have won 10 games?

Quez is like another Jordan bone.he makes sh**t happen with good game flow.If bone leaves, quez would be a very good replacement.the 5 * we have coming in is a point guard, combo guard and small forward I think they will groom him into admirals spot in the future and occasionally have him running point to give turner a break.we have no one behind the 5* and Turner if bone leaves.
