I know a there’s a number of fans who have concerns about our line of scrimmage units for this year and it’s true we at the moment don’t know what we have. We just know what we’ve had. The guys we have been working to develop in the upper classes though were not universally thought to be lacking in talent. Anyway, we may not have Bama or Georgia’s roster but I think we have a lot to work with and owing to the confidence I have in Fitz and our coaching staff I’m optimistic we will be significantly better this year on both sides at the line of scrimmage, even if we should not have Trey and Aubrey. I’m also not counting on Brandon Kennedy. In reading a number of articles, mostly for NFL players, having someone like Adrian Peterson come back from an ACL reconstruction to a record year is not the norm. The most common experience at the NFL level is when a player returns after rehab there is a degradation in performance and a shortened career. If the guy was above average before the injury, afterwards he’s most likely to be average at best and if he was an average player before the injury then afterwards he’s likely to be below average.

None of this is to say I don’t think we’ll have Trey, Aubrey, and Brandon this year. In fact, at the moment, I think we’ll have all three. I think Pruitt is a “steal the show” kind of guy. Last year he won both the ESD and NSD story-lines. I think on Tuesday at SEC media days he’ll confirm that Trey has been cleared by multiple doctors and that Aubrey’s waiver has been approved. I just hope he doesn’t get carried away and tell everyone there that WGWTFA. jmo.

Asking for some prayers for my sister and her family. She was discharged from vandy to alive hospice in Nashville and the inevitable is around the corner. She's had a battle with side effects from chemo since 2016 and has fought for some time but has nothing left in the tank. Wife of a hard working husband and mother of 1 daughter and 1 son who she homeschooled prior to health failing. Our mom has been a full time caregiver nurse since 2016 and has been through a lot, both with my sister and the unexpected passing of my father around Christmas of 2016 due to aneurism at their house in MB while she was in Tennessee with sister. Mom has been through a lot and is a huge reason my sister even is still around. Add all of this with a PCS transfer for my family and I from NC to FL and the timing and circumstances have finally caught up. Thanks for all the prayers, well wishes, and thoughts and for the various threads in the recruiting forum that provide some sort of outlet and relief when I need it. Thanks Freak for all you do and continue to do with giving all of us experts a platform to spew all of our insights and knowledge

Think I’m going to spend today working on a basic predictive model for next season.

Last year about this time I built it using the 247 talent composite, and when it didn’t come out in time for the start of the season, I had to use the average recruit ranking, and it turned out to be a bust.

When I get it done, I’ll post it for y’all.

Why the fuzz their talent composite is never updated in time is just crazy. It should be very easy to have it continuously connected to each site's roster. Even if they don't it want continuously updated, at least get the thing out by August ffs. It's just an algorithm that never changes. As long as rosters are updated, it should be plug and play. Ridiculous.

Cool stuff man! I’ve also done some work measuring coaches performance relative to the talent on their roster and it’s predictive value as well. A combination of those two factors could be pretty sweet.
