I agree completely. I thought it was a joke when I heard it on here. From a woman's perspective, leave James Bond alone. I don't want to watch a woman trying to prove she is as good as Bond. I would like to watch a woman proving she is a good spy. Having them team up later, each with their own skills, would be great.
There's a difference in sexist and masculine. Assigning a gender role to being with a sick child is sexist, imo.I don't think guys are being emasculated so much as masculinity is being expanded. It used to be a very narrow concept defined by post-WWII notions about how men and women should behave, think, and even relax (some good and some very, very bad) whereas now things are far less strict. Some of it can be odd but overall I think it's a good thing that men can do things like order something other than budweiser to drink or stay home with a sick kid without having their masculinity challenged.
Well, if I remember correctly people were not happy when they chose Daniel Craig. I for one wasn't happy but ended up loving him. I guess it is a wait and see. That's ultimately on the audience. If people can act like adults and be open, I think they will survive. Or whine and troll like they increasingly do these days, who knows.
Female 007, yes. Won't be Bond, but will replace him.
