james bond is poop

The only thing I've ever disliked about the franchise is how poorly they played poker in Casino Royale. I wanted to stab my eyes. For a budget of tens or hundreds of millions, you'd think they could hire a basic consultant to show them what a reasonable hand of poker and betting action looks like. Because that shiz was straight rubbish.

This makes zero sense to me. So a whole genre can’t be classified as original?

So are no sports movies original because of Moneyball or The Blind Side? Baseball has a built in audience so no baseball movies are original?

I guess now I see why your definition of “nothing is original” haha

Totally different. Moneyball is an original story. But putting out the 10th Spiderman film or a Batman v. Spiderman film is not considered an original. Those are characters who were created years ago, and kids buy their merchandise whether there is a movie or not. Avengers, any Star Wars movies, any superhero are all in the same category.

Anytime you put out a film that has had a prior storyline, then it's not truly original.

The thing that’s more annoying than anything is the lack of new ideas. Feels like half of movies these days are remakes of old ones.

Financial conservatism in Hollywood recently. Easier to have an immediate audience than wing it. Also.....audiences are suckers for what they are familiar with. We have only ourselves to blame.

Or watch independent films and see plenty of original stories. There is more content now than ever before in history. If you want to see original content, don't look toward your major movie theaters - hit the smaller theaters or follow festival winners and seek them out or wait to stream. Then you have Prime, Netflix, soo much new content everywhere you look.

If this is "political," mods please move. I am trying to understand why the US Women's National soccer team is suing because of a "pay gap." I have read this article: Breaking it down: What exactly is the gap in pay between USWNT and USMNT players?

and it explains it some. However, if their pay is based upon their own Collective Bargaining Agreement, how is that anyone's fault except their own? With regards to how FIFA distributes the prize money, I am sure some if it based upon the revenue generated by the event. I have not looked at the numbers, but I am guessing that attendance and TV ratings for the men's World Cup are higher. That seems to lead to a market value distribution of the funds generated. Am I missing something here?

Stop oppressing Byron!!!

I as hoping someone would ask him a tough question. But it was like the liberal media questioning Hillary Clinton. It was ridiculous

They should have a 15 minute sessions where rival fans can ask questions of any coach. Put it on at 8pm and I’d watch that. Would be amazing entertainment

How is gladiator an original when it's based on actual people, such as Avidius Cassius, Spartacus and the obvious with emporers?

It's an original storyline. I don't know how truly historical it is, but just because it refers to historical figures, doesn't mean it's not original.

As suggested, Moneyball and Blindside are original storylines, but they were in book form first. That still helps.

If Bovada has the same line, I’ll be taking the over on that.

Bovada has not released UT yet, if they ever will (I would assume they will). They have Vandy and many others already listed though.

Also have interesting season props, such as -400 Clemson to make the playoffs. What are the odds they lose 2 regular season games or the ACC championship? I think they finally deserve benefit of the doubt with 1 loss and would still get in.

You can also bet $100 to win $35,000 for UT winning it all hahahaha. Like that guy a few years ago that nearly won 50k on a massive longshot Auburn bet. I don't remember if he ended up selling for equity (or betting big against Auburn) or cried as FSU beat them in the championship.

Edit: that guy did not hedge his bet....typical Alabamian smarts.

but its not an original story line. it's several real people smushed into one. Narcissus, Cassius and Spartacus for the main character. Is the Patriot an original idea?
