If he stayed his career wasn’t over.
If he played his career was over

The appropriate thing to do was sit down with Dabo and say he would finish the year as a non playing back up. If there was a situation where he needed to play it was fully up to the kid to make that call. Essentially he should have stayed and been the 3rd team Qb
He did what he thought was best for him not what was best for the team so he doesn't deserve what the team earned without him.

Not going to ever rip a kid for transferring. He knew Lawrence was better than him and decided to protect his eligibility. That’s fine with me.

Maybe he should get a ring, maybe he shouldn’t. I’d say there’s a steep likelihood he contributed more for that team than some other players.
How do we know if he even wanted the ring?

I don’t fault Bryant being concerned with himself above all else, but he still quit a third into the season. He wasn’t a part of the team.

He was quoted as saying he would take it if offered. Never seen anything where he campaigned for one. We’re down to the kid made a decision for himself and all the GROWNUPS are making the noise. One could argue that Dabo starting the season with him was a subtly shady move...IF we knew he always intended to go with Lawrence. Tin foil stuff, so I’ll rest with Clemson could’ve taken the high road and not given him the rings WITHOUT expounding but where’s the fun in that?

My question is. Did he have to leave during the season to still get a redshirt? I'm thinking he could have just stayed on the team but chose not to play and at least help his team? And still get a redshirt?

He may have used last year as his mandatory one year sit unless you're granted an appeal. Not sure though.

If you’re on the team IN UNIFORM? You have to be an option to play. No way Dabo doesn’t stick him in against Syracuse if he’s on the bench.

Ok. And if giving the coach the specifics.. coach shouldn't expect him to lose a year of eligibility for a quarter or 2. Be there and supporting team , and refusing to play, looks better than quitting team... that's just imo though

That’s why they talk beforehand. Things like this happen all the time when redshirts are at stake. Coaches leave playing that game that burns a year up to the kid when it’s a gray area all the time
