Helton did no one any favors. He was not creative enough to put our guys in a position to succeed. Enter Chaney...Enter Sandman!rewatching the Vols/ETSU game and it is just unbelievable how bad our OL was last year. I mean ETSU is all over JG. They can't even block the mighty Buccaneers. All of this hope about winning 7-8 games depends on Friend coaching his unit up. They were absolutely horrendous.
Right. I believe he told a story during one of the caravan events that he’ll never blame a player for transferring because he did the same thing. My memory is fuzzy but I believe he realized he wasn’t cutting it as a QB at MTSU and decided to go to Alabama and try defense.Pruitt? He gave up a scholarship at MTSU to play for Alabama.
Pruitt was a starter at MTSU that transferred to Bama as a walk on to fulfill a dream. It wasn't because he lost a job and wanted to start elsewhere. Opposite, actually.
Middle of season and needed him next game....Not going to ever rip a kid for transferring. He knew Lawrence was better than him and decided to protect his eligibility. That’s fine with me.
Maybe he should get a ring, maybe he shouldn’t. I’d say there’s a steep likelihood he contributed more for that team than some other players.
He was a DB at MTSU by the end of his freshman year.Right. I believe he told a story during one of the caravan events that he’ll never blame a player for transferring because he did the same thing. My memory is fuzzy but I believe he realized he wasn’t cutting it as a QB at MTSU and decided to go to Alabama and try defense.
They were lucky to win at Syracuse. Lawrence went down and that would have been his time to shine. Except, well, he had already quit.If he truly wanted to help Clemson like all these talking heads are acting like he did, he should have stayed at Clemson mentored the young QB and then transferred after the season. Just like Jalen Hurts did.
Maybe that’s right. I don’t remember the specifics. But either way that’s “quitting” on one team to do something else you want to do.
And that’s not a bad thing, necessarily.
Can you imagine a coach using this in recruiting,
“Come play for me and if you decide to transfer in the middle of the season we will have a little going away party for you and send you rings for all your and the teams accomplishments. Clemson just isn’t the place for you because they won’t do that”
Except if he stayed his career was over. Jalen was a grad transfer. Not apples to apples. If he truly wanted to help Clemson like all these talking heads are acting like he did, he should have stayed at Clemson mentored the young QB and then transferred after the season. Just like Jalen Hurts did.
