UGA offered quite a bit to keep Chaney, I don't know where you got your info.

As stated, I did not see much, if anything. Now, I may be incorrect, but my understanding is he was at $1.3M at UGA and we got him for $1.6M, give or take a few stacks of Franklins. $300k just does not sound like that much to overcome if one wants keep the OC for two SECCGs and one NCG. But, call me uninformed and do tell what all UGA offered to keep him.

If Pruitt doesn't work it absolutely has to be an experienced coach. Look at Mack Brown at NC and Les Miles at Kansas. Surely we could steal Miles away! I don't know. I hope we don't have to fire Pruitt. I really wanted him to be the guy.
We could have had Les Miles but most everyone on here didn't want him.

Gotcha. Yeah, that seems less likely. They should absolutely trim the list of players but it’s obvious the shuffling is going to continue because they don’t know who their 5 best offensive linemen are.

Yes, and possibly, I think at this point we all wanna see a starting 5 play for 4 basically

Of course if we have a starting 5 we don't like then everybody will be calling for the shuffle go round. Who knows hope for the best

The best thing UT fans can do is put a lid on it until next Saturday, then fill the stadium and support the hell out of this team. Give people who're paid a lot of money the chance to address issues and fix problems and see what they can do. Trashing the AD, UT admin and the university, hating on players, calling for heads to roll and fans to empty Neyland does nothing to help and much to hurt.

Recruits are reading and hearing all of this. It's bad enough-- no gain in making it worse.

Yes, I agree
Just 5 days ago we loved them. I get it, we lost a ****** game With a god awful performance. Pruitt’s not getting fired. We have seen what he is capable of. Let’s support or guys and see this thing through bc I’m still a believer after letting my emotions settle

What he’s capable of?

Ask any Vol fan to name their most beloved Vol QB, and you’ll get an answer. They may struggle picking just one, but you’ll get a name.

Old timers might pick a guy like Condredge.
Maybe it’s Andy Kelly or Heath Shuler.
A lot of guys probably pick Peyton.
Some might say Casey Clausen.
Younger fans might even say Josh Dobbs.

There’s no wrong answer. It’s just your personal favorite.

Ask the same group of Vol fans to name their most hated Vol QB, and you’ll probably get a lot of befuddled looks. People would struggle to come up with a name.

We don’t think like that as fans. At least not usually.

Jarrett Guarantano making a push to go down as the first Vol QB I can really remember to be despised, actually despised, by a large swath of the fan base.

That kid needs a major attitude adjustment.

^^All those guys played on *much* better teams.

People said the same things about Bray but I doubt anyone hates him now. Both were in similar situations with defenses that couldn't stop a geriatric three-toed sloth from scoring and fans wanting the offense to do more and both had talent but never seemed to be able to close out games albeit for very different reasons.

Bray would give us all the hope in the world but give him any resistance and he'd fold in the second half. JG doesn't offer us that same tantalizing hope. He does a lot of things well but I can't think of a single thing he does that's great. He's not good enough to win a game on his own but not bad enough to bench. He's similar to Jake Bentley on that count and most SC fans are pleased as punch that Bentley is no longer starting.

That all said, a lot of it is simply unfair to JG. He's one player on the team and his performance alone didn't cost us the game. It was 'good enough' not great or even good but 'good enough' to win. If we have a guy like Dobbs on our bench that can carry the entire team then by all means play him but focusing on QB to the degree that we are ignores that we are fundamentally broken in a TON of other areas, including coaching. Back when Bray was on the firing line, I maintained that he was the least of our worries and tbh, I think the same is true of JG. (Doesn't make either great college QBs but both would be winners on better teams with better coaching).

It's absolutely in our best interest for Pruitt to turn this around.
As mad as I am, I would like nothing more than for next Saturday to be referred to as "the moment everything changed" in a few years.

If not, afraid I'll be dead before this gets fixed.
Absolutely.

It's hard imagine having to start over again and expect it to be different.

Chaney wasn’t the problem against GSU. Sure, there were a couple of strange running calls. But JG had guys open, and he put the OL in position to succeed. I also understand that Ty didn’t get many carries. That’s unfortunate. But if we have a real Pruitt defense with converting two FG’s into TD’s, we probably cover the spread.

Uhm. I did not say he was the problem. I was referring to the chatter about him becoming interim HC.

Someone asked earlier about Simmons not playing and not being listed this week. If you want to get the most out of him and redshirt as well, you would save him for the SEC games, right? :)

I understand, but if he’s a competent OC then he’s the logical choice for interim. The insinuation was that UGA didn’t care enough to keep him. I think what I stated is still relevant. He loves East TN, and a bit of a raise got it done.

I think it’s safe to say our media is adding fuel to the fire. I didn’t watch the videos until now and now I have a total different view than before on players. @Bassmaster_Vol

This is two guys who are disgusted, pissed, and want to get better. I don't see any other way to put it or spin it. JG is taking responsibility for not making plays. He's not saying he played well, he said he's disgusted, he says I made mistakes, the struggles are on me, and we'll fix it. Him and DT are point blank honest, and ready to get to work.

Shhh. The media will spin it.

Strangely enough, we are in agreement. UGA just did not care all that much, although credit given as east Tennessee certainly is better than the hell hole that is metro Atlanta which is absorbing Athens as well.

Words words words talk talk talk. Talk was over Saturday night and those guys looked terrible vs. an inferior opponent. They’re going to have to win the next 3 games to redeem themselves. No excuses, play like a champion.
