I said folks can’t handle the truth about how the offense played against Pitt. Go back and watch. It was bad. We all knew it then. I don’t care what stats you point out. Outside of one quarter we were terrible at Pitt on offense. That’s a fact and Jimmie’s should not be rustled when someone says that as they have been today. On offense, against the only team we have played with a pulse, we have not shown that we have arrived.

Further, on defense, we’ve been tested for one half. We played well in that half. But that’s it. Michigan state beat Akron 52-0 the week before us. They aren’t anointed as a great football team because of it.

Well what happen to what you were saying earlier in the week? "UF sucks" "we are going to kill them?" lol When you heard about Tillman its like it knocked the wind out of your sails.

No doubt it wasn't sharp but you also not giving Pitt's D any credit. Pitts D is a lot better than what UF has shown.

Pitts D is good. But Pitts D isn’t why Hooker has had first quarter struggles this year. And further, WV ran the ball on Pitt the weak before, we didn’t run it at all against them and really didn’t even try. I think that probably says a lot about where our coaches feel the run game is currently.

I don't know...we've proved we're capable of blowing out teams we should (Ball State/Akron). We've proved we're capable of beating a good team on the road (Pitt) and we've proved we're capable of moving the ball in a variety of ways.

Pittsburgh based on last year AND this year is a better team than Florida. Florida has won by a total of 6 points in their two wins. Their offense hasn't passed for 170 yards in a single game yet, and the first real defense they faced (Kentucky) held them to under 300 total yards on offense. And despite having yet played a really good offense they've given up 400 or more total yards in 2 of their 3 games. And the one they lost was the only one where their defense was able to do that. They've also played 3 straight home games to open the season.

It's a game we should be the favorite in, and we should beat them. Anything else will be a disappointment I think.

No I believe we are going to kill them. But only if we play like we’re capable. If we play like we did at Pitt we may lose. Certainly won’t kill them. And now that gets tougher with Tillman out.

When I was younger I drank alot. Dropped out of college .Got 2 DUI's and had to go to court ordered rehab. Went to another community college and met a girl. 10 years later hear I am married with 2 kids, have a really good job, coach travel ball and football, wife is a Sunday school teacher. Just because there is a low point on the chart doesnt mean you cant go up. Still drink busch lites and yell at my tv on Saturdays tho

My comment was in no way suggesting that people are irredeemable, of course they are. The point was simply that there was a pattern of poor life choices and self-control issues.

While I had no substance abuse problems, I also dropped out of college, then failed at a couple of jobs, then my father kicked me out of the house. After being effectively homeless for a bit, I enlisted in the Army, got my crap together, eventually getting an early release to return to college, where I finished my degree and earned a commission. After leaving the Army I started the business I now run 30 years later. I made poor choices and got in a hole, then stopped making poor choices and dug my way out. Unfortunately many don't.

I believe Heupel and the team would agree that we played terrible against Pitt and we’re very fortunate that our defense laid the smack down on Slovis.

Plenty of posters are acting like we’re just gonna go out there and smash UF. We might do it. But again, we haven’t proved it yet. Nobody knows how good UT is or isn’t as of today.

It's that we can smash Florida. The defense is, up to this point, better. And the offense while inconsistent, had still been very productive anyway.

Get more consistency, eliminate the catastrophic errors, we smash Florida... And most other teams we're gonna play.

I think it said more about what they thought of Pitt's corners and our ability to win 1 on 1.

That said, I've not been overly impressed with our run game yet either.

I'll be honest, I think us putting out Slovis actually hurt the offense in the 2nd half.

1. Pitt's defense knew at that point it was a game that they had to step-up to remain close in, and that's exactly what they did
2. I felt like we became less aggressive on offense because we didn't want to risk giving them easy opportunities with a back-up playing...but then special teams kind of **** the bed

Plus despite him not being a world beater, Patti was actually more mobile than Slovis. And we absolutely put a hurting on them, against Western Michigan they started a 3rd string QB. But their defense held them to 13 and just 180 total yards. Pitt will be a contender in the ACC I think, the defense has gotten better every week and once Slovis is healthy their offense will be fine.

LSU gonna be tough. I feel much, much better about FL but hell I’ll take a 1 point win if it’s needed

I'm glad we have a bye. I think LSU's defense is pretty good. And I think Daniels is getting better. And it's down there. Would like that too be a noon game.

But LSU is gettable. So we'll see. Not sure yet exactly how I feel about that game yet... Confidence wise anyways

Bottom Line:
If we do not turnover the ball and play solid special teams, then we should beat everyone on our schedule except Bama and UGA.
Those are big if’s. Special teams must get better. No excuse for blocked punt. This can be a special team. Bama at home could be a classic. UGA on the road is going to be tough.

Our coaches said at the beginning that we call plays based on what the defense gives us….. it’s why we use wide splits….. makes the defense be in either a run defense or pass defense…. Pitt played us to stop the run and trusted their secondary to play man coverage for most of the game.
