If you aren't drinking that much bourbon, I'd grab a bottle of Buffalo Trace and call it a day.You people who spend a fortune on bourbon, shoot me straight…
I’m a poor boy who rarely drinks and works through a bottle of Gentleman Jack in probably a year and a half. How much better is the higher shelf stuff?

I'd say significantly, but it also can be palate dependent and proof preference. I've always found my proof sweet spot to be 100-115. As such, stuff like Rare Breed, RR SiB, WTKS, OF1920, OF1910, Four Roses SiB, John J Bowman SiB, Baker's, Makers Cask Strength (the 46 cask as well), Knob Creek 12 (very available in some areas, others not so much) are all generally available as well as being solid pours for their price tag. Each are in the $50-$70 price range as well, which isn't insane given the current bourbon market, and definitely worthy of a splurge over Gentleman Jack at least one time. You people who spend a fortune on bourbon, shoot me straight…
