That what the ND beat writer is trying to say with his AP vote!Still so confused how Bama is 10th... when they've only played 3 top 25 teams so far.
AL: Utah State (3-5), Texas (5-3), UL-Monroe (2-6), Vandy (3-5), A&M (3-5), TN (8-0), Miss St. (5-3), LSU (6-2), Ole Miss (8-1) Austin Peay, Auburn (3-5)
TN: Ball State (4-4), Pitt (4-4), Akron (1-8), Florida (4-4), LSU (6-2), Bama (7-1), UT-Martin, Kentucky (5-3), Georgia (8-0), Missouri (4-4), USC (5-3), Vandy (3-5)
They've only got 5 teams 500 or better we have 9 on our schedule.
Akron is a lot worse than UL Monroe.
I’ll be the first one on record to say that if he does indeed go first….then we all should suit up for the NFL draft the league has enough bad/average QB’s in it already…it’s watered down like the NBA with young talent leaving early for money and still need coaching
Esay now..............Peay ain't that bad. Martin is overrated due to the weakness of the OVC. Peay would be undefeated in the OVC this year. We left a year early.
But we'll play both teams that played in the CFP championship game last year...they won't. And if we beat Georgia we'll have beaten the last 3 CFP champions in the same regular season, no one will have done that.
It's because ESPN's stupid FPI is hot garbage. Somehow Texas is 6th at 5-3...with 2 wins over teams that are 500 or better UTSA (6-2) and OU (5-3). We're 5th and BEHIND Alabama who we've beat head to head. LSU is 9th, us and Bama are the only teams that will have played 3 teams in the top 10 for FPI, but that seems to not help our rating at all compared to Bama (who sits 2nd in FPI).
Just settle it on the field, but I am pulling hard for LSU to smack Bama like they did Ole Piss.
Loovull is about to start beating his arse on the reg by the way.Stoops beats any 2 of Mizzou, Vandy, UGA (lol), Lville and he gets another year added to his contract.
Why would he leave?
In seven seasons of College Football Playoff Selection Committee rankings, Tennessee has appeared in exactly three, all in 2016, when the Vols climbed as high as No. 16. That’s like being invited to play Bonnaroo and getting assigned the bar at the Holiday Inn in Manchester.
The Vols are on the big stage now. Like so many other events in this wondrous autumn in Knoxville, Tennessee will open one more door Tuesday night that it hasn’t opened in years. Given that four of Tennessee’s eight victories have come against ranked teams, two of them still ranked (No. 6 Alabama and No. 15 LSU), there’s a decent chance that the Vols will be No. 1 in the season’s first College Football Playoff rankings.
Someone guard the goalposts.
The No. 1 team in the first ranking has gone on to make the CFP field in six of seven seasons. But maybe we shouldn’t read too much into that ranking – the No. 2 team in the initial ranking has made it to the field six times, too. The first No. 4 has made it five times.
Psst, No. 3 – start worrying. The third-ranked team in the initial ranking has reached the CFP only twice and has yet to win a national championship.
The media also picked Tennessee third in the SEC East.
The deeper we get into November, as the storied rivalry games come into focus, the more teams will fall away from playoff contention. History tells us that the Georgia-Tennessee and Michigan-Ohio State losers have a chance of making the playoff – Alabama won the national championship in 2017 despite missing the SEC Championship Game. The losers could finish 11-1 and, barring complete collapses by the winners, not have to risk a second loss in their conference championship games.
That sets up the scenario in which those four teams make the College Football Playoff – two from the SEC, two from the Big Ten. If you’re looking for a way to goose the commissioners into getting a 12-team Playoff ready for 2024, that’s your answer.
Mehpier is gonna flame out diwn there in a few. I don't think he has what it takes.I think if the reason for the dismissal of Brenton Cox is accurate that's a huge red flag for Napier long term down there. He and their delusional fans can try to paint it as a "cultural" thing, but I remember when Jennings was kicked off the team...such a huge mistake. One of the few things Pruitt got right in his time here was putting him back on the team. You have to have some dogs in that locker room, if you can't control them then you're not the guy for the job.
Another great example look at how well this staff has handled Banks.
