time to settle it on the field

I do think it's interesting that all of these projections, from various sources, continuously have us scoring less than 35 week after week
I don’t think these stats can properly account for tempo. It’s more like a correlation based on historical data relative to the stats.

So do you just not speak to your husband on the Saturday we play Georgia?

😁
This Saturday is going to be….well, we’ve been married for 43+ years…44 may be in question….we’re sitting together in the Tennessee section. I need to find a Tennessee fan in the Georgia section and trade seats so Mr Smokin is with his people and not next to me!

Still so confused how Bama is 10th... when they've only played 3 top 25 teams so far.

AL: Utah State (3-5), Texas (5-3), UL-Monroe (2-6), Vandy (3-5), A&M (3-5), TN (8-0), Miss St. (5-3), LSU (6-2), Ole Miss (8-1) Austin Peay, Auburn (3-5)
TN: Ball State (4-4), Pitt (4-4), Akron (1-8), Florida (4-4), LSU (6-2), Bama (7-1), UT-Martin, Kentucky (5-3), Georgia (8-0), Missouri (4-4), USC (5-3), Vandy (3-5)

They've only got 5 teams 500 or better we have 9 on our schedule.

The machines love Texas a whole lot. This is consistent across the majority of models. I'd say that + us being slightly better on their SOS than they are on us would constitute the 9 spot difference.

That Tennessee bump.

You'd think that by now they'd know to add at least 1 TD to our total, more like 10 points minimum. Every week they have us in the 30's and we smash it.
Dave Bartoo uses scoring efficiency which factors in tempo and garbage time and looks at how efficiently you score or prevent scoring. He has us at #1 and #5 in offensive and devensive scoring efficiency, respectively. Our defense is much better than it looks and is more than capable of keeping us in this game

I would say Akron, UTM, Vandy drag us down some.

But we'll play both teams that played in the CFP championship game last year...they won't. And if we beat Georgia we'll have beaten the last 3 CFP champions in the same regular season, no one will have done that.

It's because ESPN's stupid FPI is hot garbage. Somehow Texas is 6th at 5-3...with 2 wins over teams that are 500 or better UTSA (6-2) and OU (5-3). We're 5th and BEHIND Alabama who we've beat head to head. LSU is 9th, us and Bama are the only teams that will have played 3 teams in the top 10 for FPI, but that seems to not help our rating at all compared to Bama (who sits 2nd in FPI).

Just settle it on the field, but I am pulling hard for LSU to smack Bama like they did Ole Piss.

That def indicates that they put a ton on recruiting rankings. Bc Texas always recruits well. They just don’t develop anybody almost ever.

aren't the SOS rankings based on games played thus far? I'm not really worried about it until the final rankings. Which won't matter anyway because if we have Bama and UGA pelts on our wall we're #1 easily.

I get why fans hate it and thinks it's horse crap, but the models love Texas and that's WHY the SOS is playing out this way. I don't agree with it, but I understand why

Our LSU games will cancel each other out, we'll have the better win with UGA. Then it comes down to how the rest of our opponents finish out. We'll be right around each other for the rest of the season.

Well teams they've played so far are 34-30...and teams we've played so far are 36-29, we've played 4 teams in a row that sit at 5 or more wins right now.

More than UL-Monroe, Austin Peay, and Vandy? UT-Martin is better than Austin Peay they lost to us in Knoxville and lost at Boise State (6-2). They only have 1 FCS loss that came in early in the season.
Easy now..............Peay ain't that bad. Martin is overrated due to the weakness of the OVC. Peay would be undefeated in the OVC this year. We left a year early.;)
