Vols need to make a statement to give them a reason to jump us to #3. They're not going to want a UGA/UT rematch at #1/#4. They'd probably rather avoid a UGA/Oregon rematch, too-- and it will be difficult for the Ducks to win out. Think Michigan has the opportunity to capitalize on others' losses and slide in since that would create a high-profile, geographically-friendly matchup at #1/#4.

I think it's worth mentioning that we are still under the black cloud of the NCAA. Those with a vote might be thinking about that deal. Just a thought

The committee chair when talking about us said “of course we’re still early in this process.
He also said value SOS and one game doesn’t define it.
By those metrics we’re golden.

Also there is no way LSU beats UGA in Atlanta
I disagree...I think they can win. I don't think they will, but they are talented and physical enough to play with them and UGA will not have a home field advantage.

If that's the reason heads will roll. The outcry from actual college football fans will be deafening if THAT is the reason they keep us out. We served our time. Just because we took it on the chin with a grin doesn't mean you get to hit us again.

Recency bias is why this format is a disaster. Nothing objective about picking and choosing which outcomes have merit due to when the games were played. Another thing not mentioned is that we could effectively be punished by simply being in the same division with the #1 team in the country. There’s 5 other teams in the SEC that will not face Georgia in the regular season.

My solution is this:

Return to using a BCS-type format, where each human poll is developed with equal regional representation. In other words, break the country in 6 regions, and each region has 10 representatives for the AP and Coaches polls. To grade record, strength of schedule, strength of record, etc., use a computer-based polling system. Average all 3 and line them up in ascending order. Bracket the top 4—just like what’s done now—and bury this committee BS.

It’s my opinion, but I’ve yet to hear anything that’s more objective.

An exercise, since we're all in a worry mood.

Let's say you're a TCU fan.
Or an Oregon fan.
Or an LSU fan.
Or even an Ohio St or Michigan fan, knowing one of you will have 1 loss and not win your division.

And you're looking at Tennessee and their resume.

How would you feel these last few weeks?

better than a Tennessee fan should feel??

He also said we beat LSU by 4tds at their place and it has to be counted and we have two top 10 wins. It’s all show right now and doesn’t matter because one definitely in front is us will lose and quite possibly two with what TCU has left.
I don't care what "he also said"...that statement was utter 🦬💩

Big money matchups. Probably how they'd like the dominos to fall-- and all four teams have a clear path if they stay on course.
Yeah, pac 12 and big 12 cannibalize. Michigan/OSU a classic fg type game and we win out.

Could happen.
