Clemson can get to 4 with a win over UNC. But still doesn’t have an impressive resume overall losing to an unranked at the time team.

USC has a chance to finish the year with 3 ranked wins if they won the PAC12.

TCU can get to 6 with the Big10 championship, I think?

Ohio State can get to 3, maybe 4 depending on championship game and if Illinois will be ranked going in.

Michigan can get to 2, maybe 3 depending on championship game and if Illinois will be ranked going in.

We will stay at 5. So TCU is the only team that can have more ranked wins than us.

Objectively at this point in the season I feel like this is where the Heisman rankings would be.

1. Drake Maye - 70% 3412 passing yds, 34 TDs, 3 INTs, 584 rushing yds, 5 TDs
2a. Jalin Hyatt - 58 receptions, 1116 yds, 15 TDs
2b. Hendon Hooker - 71% 2888 passing yds, 24 TDs, 2 INTs, 405 rushing yds, 5 TDs
3. Caleb Williams - 63.7% 3010 passing yds, 31 TDs, 2 INTs, 283 rushing yds, 6 TDs
4. Blake Corum - 227 carries, 1349 rushing yds, 17 TDs
5. CJ Stroud - 67% 2750 passing yds, 34 TDs, 4 INTs

Hyatt to me needs more consideration he's 2nd in the nation in yards & 1st in TDs

Now if you factor in competition played then I feel like Maye drops to just above Williams. (UNC hasn't beaten a top 25 team yet, at the time they played)

This year ......UM's schedule is bad. Real bad.
I would like to see ANY Big 10 team play an SEC schedule. I have a neighbor that came here from California and we were talking football and I told him the SEC is just different than everybody else. He gave me the "Sure they are" response. Then after about 6 games he said "Man I never knew they were all that good". Just a fact, bigger and faster.

I would like to recant my emotional statement towards Banks during the game on Saturday. I do not want to fire him.

Exhibit A:

Reminder: we have very little talent on defense. We have two elite freshman edge rushers, and we have an elite defensive class coming in next year after we land Hobbs.

I don’t want to fire him either
I was over CWM Saturday but I think our cbs are fine they just never have any safety help bc our safety’s are slow slow slow

Which is why we need USC to lose 1 of their next 3. They are making the PAC 12 championship so they will have 3 chances to lose. No way they put a 2-loss champ in the CFP.
USC has won against 0 ranked teams, and we have won against 5, and that's somehow dangerous to our chances? Not following your post.

We are both one loss teams. Our wins are far superior. Our loss is far superior.

Help me understand why we need USC to help us...

Maye is the best QB in the country but he doesn't have a "heisman moment" nor has he beat any elite teams. He'll probably win it next year though.

Why is Turnage the only DB besides the walk-on breaking on balls consistently? Does Turnage just has it and go against what's being taught?

He also presses more at the line of scrimmage than the other DBs. He's different back there.

Not sure that's fair...Slaughter does it well. I think they've adjusted the coverage as the season went on, we played more Zone earlier in the season but with the need to play less experienced guys in the secondary (because of injuries to Burrell, Hadden, Charles) they went more man so they could blitz more and try and impact how long QBs are getting to read progression.

So in short I think if we had been playing this style of defense all season you would have seen more breaking on balls from the other DB. But I think Turnage is the best pure man DB we have on the team (Hadden would be second I think). Slaughter came in as a safety and I'm not sure when he was officially moved to CB.

He has legitimate speed as well. Seems that too many of our DBs are slow.

I guess throwing for 77% 388 passing yards and 5 TDs 0 INTs against Pittsburgh is the closest thus far, but a big game in the ACC title game against Clemson could be the moment and the beaten an "elite" team (as elite as they will face). What may help him is that Notre Dame (their only loss) could finish the season strong and be in the top 20 (if they win out, which I'd love to see since that'd mean they beat USC).

USC is a media darling no matter how bad they’ve been. The media desires them to be back. They have 3 upcoming games including the PAC 12 Championship that will be against ranked opponents. If they win out and have a PAC 12 championship to boot that will be like candy for some of these voters on the committee. Also, having a team out on the West coast will bring in more eyes from around the whole country instead of every team being from the right half of the country. That’s my line of thinking, anyway.

Idk if he would have fit into that role perfectly, but from a route running and 3/4th and short perspective of Fants role, absolutely. Idk if he could have done the amount of blocking that Fant does. He’s pretty important in the run game. I’m sure he could have been coached up in it to be somewhat efficient though.
Hurd was a helluva blocker.

Are you suggesting Hurd is the reason they lost to Sc? lol

Hurd did enough at UT for me to not really care about how it ended. The fact that he stayed after Butch promised a more pro-style scheme for 2016 and fought through the concussions/ bruising/ injuries to play for UT is enough for me to respect him. 2nd all time in rushing attempts in a scheme that didn't fit his style and a terrible OL but kept his head down and worked. Dude took more of a beating in orange than nearly any player to ever come through Knoxville.

The 2016 team had way more problems than just Hurd choosing to opt out. Can't blame him for wanting to get out of a bad situation.

Glad you support a quitter...he has team mates. Are you suggesting that his decision to not go into the game didn't affect the outcome of the game?

We all get put into tough spots sometimes, and your personality is revealed in how you handle it. I have no problem with transferring, but I do when you make that decision in the middle of a game. Hate to say it because I didn't like it at the time...but Tee Martin was partially correct in his statement caught on tape.

Well, obviously you're welcome to your line of thinking.
