Well this may be a first but I'm agreeing with Jack Burton, the only thing on our mind should be beating gamecocks!

In sports nothing good ever happens when one team overlooks another. Beating SC is all that's on my mind right now..

See, I’m not so bad.

Maybe we do see a Vol finally win a Heisman, Hooker and Hyatt both SHOULD be in the final vote and either could win it.

I think Peyton should have won it, but had it went to someone else that actually deserved it (like Randy Moss or Ricky Williams) then I think most fans could have swallowed that pill at bit easier. But absolutely nothing about Woodson's season was extraordinary.

43 total tackles, 4 TFLs, 1 sack, 5 PDs, 7 INTs
11 receptions, 231 yards, 2 TDs
3 rushes, 15 yards, 1 TD
33 PRs, 283 return yards, 1 TD
4 Total TDs
I quit following the Heistman after that year. How many defensive players have won it since that year?

Yeah, basically this. They also lost a good QB to the draft and a Biletnikoff Award winning WR to the portal, which didn’t help their case on offense either.

Lost a starting CB in the draft as well, and had a TE and WR both go undrafted. They had a good bit of attrition on their offense and defense in the transfer portal too, not all starters but some high rated guys that could have been key depth guys.

I think USC has the best chance of sneaking into the top 4 that's currently behind us.

They'll get UCLA, Notre Dame, and then Oregon or Utah (depending on who wins their head to head) and all 3 of those opponents are currently top 20 in the CFP rankings.

Lots of momentum can be created with 3 straight top 20 wins, I don't like that and hope they lose one of them. Cause I'm not sure TCU will drop another one at this point...thought Texas was the best shot at beating them and then the Longhorns just choked.

I see why SC is a popular darkhorse. But I can't see them winning out. It would take another gear to navigate that schedule into playoff positioning. The Pac-12 is cannibalizing itself much like the SEC-- with weaker teams and schedules.

How in the seven hells is that not conflict of interest?

I can’t see him making a move unless it’s just absolute stupid money, and then still would have my doubts. We all know A/M throws around stupid money!
And as I type this, lol, he’s talking about it again, and emphasized on a “handsome, handsome inventive” 🙄

Leaf having the season he did and Washington State being as good as they were because of it really killed things for Manning too. The year before Wuerfful won it, but there wasn't really any other P5 QB close to his numbers.
Peyton's year Leaf had more yards, Couch had more TDs (also in the SEC East) and then Chad Pennington had crazy numbers that season too (even though Marshall isn't P5). And honestly if Couch hadn't lead the country in INTs he probably would have probably ended up finishing even higher than he did.

But yeah ESPN pushed the "best player can't always mean QB" that year hard, since then QBs have won 18 of the 24 trophies. It was so painfully obvious that year the fix was in and they didn't even bother trying to hide it with a player that legit was deserving either. Just picked the best defensive guy on Michigan (because their offense was dog crap that year).

I think the committee would like to keep it clean and simple. It’s the media that’s manufacturing drama. The committee is staying the course, leading with the undefeateds, which causes the media to stir up controversy by pushing long-shot what-ifs. They have to have something to talk about and some reason to create reveal shows that reveal little that's new.

IMO, the committee has a preferred endgame and will use soft metrics, if needed, to justify the final ranking. They have indicated that they think UGA, OSU and UT are the three best teams in the country, and I think they’d like a clear path to that #1-#3 scenario. They want a strong matchup for UGA in the semis, and they'd set up a ratings bonanza with a UGA/OSU/UM or UGA/UT championship game.

They've created a bugaboo at #4, but seem to think that will work itself out. UT just needs to dominate two more games and leave no doubt that the Vols are the most exciting, best 1-loss team in the country. A loss is inevitable when the #1 and #2 teams in the top conference are in the same division. The SEC has already played its de facto SECCG. It's very unfortunate UT didn't have a better showing.
I think this is the best recap.

The truth is all undefeateds should be at the top and Tennessee should be the best 1 loss team no matter who gets or has a loss.

That leaves Tennessee in a great spot for No. 4 but the committee would prefer us at No. 3 and so would I. We need help to get there, but that seems likely.

Put yourself in that position. Would you make a lateral move to aTm to work with Jimbo who may not last more than one more year or keep the same role at a red hot UT program where this staff and head coach can do no wrong? They'll all get paid, but consider the difference in perception and work environment. Nah. Ain't happening.
Could have stopped at Jimbo

Mitch will be in our corner.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. 😀
I would like to believe differently, but I don't think the media gives a **** what we think.
Here's the thing, I could give infinite fcks what any of them think or say, i really don't care...David Pollack, Kirk Herbstriet, Paul Finebaum, Chris Fowler, and the rest...I could not care less; except!...for the ENORMOUS influence they wield. I mean...Pollack is one of the biggest jackwagons that's ever opened his mouth, and I could give a sh!t what comes out of it, except...millions hear and listen to it. And, it's not just ESPN. CBS started the narrative this past week about us running the score up. Look how much that took off.

Influence...sway...power...that's my issue. I've seen it cost us a Heisman...what else has it, will it, cost us?
