Not trying to change your mind, but a decent rationale is that they played and won one more game than others. That ought to be worth consideration. Allowing a higher ranked Bama to sit at home while they played doesn't really make sense either.
It’s fine, but conference winners aren’t automatically granted the top 32 seeds. By that policy, then the winner of the SWAC would be given a top seed.
I think what the powers that be ultimately want for football to be like Basketball in a way. With NIL money and the portal we have seen this year that several teams that were never given a sniff made some waves. Ten or fifteen years ago nobody had ever heard of Gonzaga in basketball but now..... I know that football is a different animal but that is what their goal is in the end I believe. Money in the end will win out over tradition in the long run and college sports is about the money, what the networks, the sponsors, the schools and now the players will make. But what was said was, winning a crappy conference shouldn't even get you in.
With 12 teams getting in…. I would rather keep the Bama game…. Wouldn’t trade this years Bama game for anything in the world. The first thing they should do is do away with the traditional rivalries after we do away with the divisions. They were great for many years no doubt but the fairness of competition will have to be taken into account. Everybody wants us to play Bama but their biggie is Auburn, what about Vandy, we are their biggest rival or Ky. Rotate a home and away with EVERY team. We have Texas and Oklahoma coming in so is that going to be their game every year ? SC's biggest rival isn't even in our Conference. It's just time to play for the big prize and do away with bragging rights.
It does deserve consideration to get into the playoff, which they should, but not a bye. Reward the team that’s been consistent. Not trying to change your mind, but a decent rationale is that they played and won one more game than others. That ought to be worth consideration. Allowing a higher ranked Bama to sit at home while they played doesn't really make sense either.
