I think our coach can and will adjust, he was successful at Mizzou and UCF he is not a one trick pony. Yes I’m dating myself be even saying that.Unless the rules are changed that prevent us from playing fast on offense, we're golden. Saban tried to lobby the NCAA to keep fast pace offenses out of the game because he was concerned about injuries to his defenses players. What a wank . If our opponents have the horses to play press coverage, more power to them
Those yards against SC were in a little over 2/3s of one quarter, after coming into a desperate situation cold.54 attempts vs 392 attempts though.
I'm all in on giving Joe the keys and let's go, but I think trying to share his stats this season is misleading. He only started 1 game, the rest were 4th quarter mop up duties against 2nd stringers.
4 of 8 for 108 yards and a TD against South Carolina in meaningful minutes
11 of 21 for 147 yards and a TD against Vandy in his only start
Lol...just getting out of LA takes forever. My little brother works for Space X and lives in Long Beach....I hate that place....mountains of garbage and homeless shanty/tent towns everywhere....it is disgusting.lol GPS said that, never made the drive. I was immediately wrong in regards to what I was responding to
If Hooker hadn't missed his wide open shots against UGA then what are you saying?
Bottom line...despite a heavily rattled OL putting the offense behind the 8 ball all freaking day....we still should have hung 30+ on the best defense CFB money can buy..if Hooker just hits the open shots he did get.
I think if Tennessee keeps bringing in more talented players. Those margin of errors get biggerLike I don't disagree with this statement.
But Hooker is one player and he went 23 of 33 for 69.7% against Georgia, the INT was about throw but he was playing well. Needed the rest of the team to step up a bit, WRs weren't getting off physical coverage enough, OL played badly all around (allowing pressure, penalties, and not getting anything going with the running game) and the defense just couldn't get off the field.
So could Hooker have done more, absolutely. But he was also already doing the most of anyone on the team. We really need some guys to step up outside the QB position to help this team make the next step of being in the CFP each season.
Those yards against SC were in a little over 2/3s of one quarter, after coming into a desperate situation cold.
Only thing I would say is that Hooker didn't play anywhere close to Hartmans level against that ACC competition....but look what Heupel did with him against SEC competition.Hartman doesn't play in the SEC. His stats wouldn't be that good if he did, and they aren't amazing now.
The point is that I doubt Hartman is any better than Joe, and Joe may not be our best QB by mid season.
So this may ruffle some of the VOL faithful feathers.
I know a couple sports writers and I’ve asked them recently what they thought about the VOLS this year and it seems like it’s lining up with what’s happening as far as the Polls, and other awards.
Seems as tho they think TN runs a gimmick offense and that defenses next year will shut down TN and we will go back to being a 6-7 win team. Was told they think CH offense won’t last and that teams will go back and watch the Ga and SC games and see how to play press coverage on D.
So there ya go. Just food for thought on what a couple of National guys think.
I think 7-8 is probable, but I don't think it is just because of reloading the QB. I think that is just one of several positions that will cause issues.Based just on the QB situation, I don't think we can avoid a substantial step back next season. I haven't seen the schedule, but I'd think 7-8 wins would be about where we end up.
