We should start the game with faking the speed option and dropping back to hit Hyatt for 6. I guarantee that’s in the play book and is why we showed the speed option wrinkle. Btw, I loved the play calls when we used it. Adds another dimension the defense has to defend.

College Gameday, Barstool, Josh Pate

This weekend is going to be epic for exposure. I can’t wait to be there. This week is going to be the slowest week ever.

True dat! I’m gonna have to pace my energy exertion on Saturday. I have a tendency to overdo it at the Vol Walk and early in the game, then am dead tired by halftime with no more energy or voice! Lol! Hoping we are up 4 TDs by half so I can just relax and enjoy the 2nd half.

Small said he could have come back in game.

Tillman told players/staff he felt "good" but he's been rehabbing injury since halftime of the game. Hubbs also said don't underestimate the power of adrenaline, in regards to Tillman saying he was "good." We'll see if he's good to go by game time but I don't think we'll get many updates on him.

I’ll be honest…I think we need Small more than Tillman. I think we have other guys who will be just fine at WR I’m this offense and will produce. We need Small’s experience esp with pass pro. Don’t want a true FR being 2nd in line in games like this.

There has to be a large portion of their fan base that is embarrassed by this stuff, right? I thought the students were supposed to be the "cool, hip" portion of the fanbase. Their students and young fans are freaking weirdos. They remind me of people on the TV shows my wife watches about cults. Do they think that they are funny?

We don't know if he's racist or not, that's not really the point. I don't want someone who is inconsiderate enough to use the word, maliciously or not, representing the University when there are so many other great role models to pick from.

Some of the young men on the team probably don't care that he was "just being stupid" around his close group of friends. Some might even use the term themselves, but I'm sure there are plenty that are offended by the word, no matter the intent.

Similar to how some people still use the terms "retarded" or "gay" synonymously with stupid. They don't necessarily hate those with mental disabilities or gay people, but they don't take the time to think about how their words make others feel.

Everyone makes mistakes and I know Wallen apologized. He shouldn't be blacklisted. He should be able to make a living. People should be free to listen to and buy his music. He's just not going to be my pick to represent the University.

Not trying to open the "are we becoming too PC" or "everyone can be offended by something" can of worms, just stating my opinion from someone who used to not understand that words matter.

When I was in school and would go to the games, I always noticed the old-timers who lived through national titles and Heisman trophies and top 5 finishes and how dejected they looked. As bad as Tennessee got, it was due to incompetence; they weren’t poisoned like the Buffs were. My advisor sat on the committee that self-imposed the harshest recruiting restrictions imaginable and used to brag to me that he’d helped kill the football program. After all, a university was supposed to be about SCHOLARSHIP, not silly athletic competition. Always found that tremendously myopic.

How dare we give some economic and academic opportunities to thousands of kids every year. Quite a few that wouldn't normally get such an opportunity.

And, at least for the larger schools, they aren't taking money from the school. Some even give back to the university. And all add prestige and desire from students. Even the Ivy Leagues have sports. Hell, they started many of them.

For me its the HB's. We still have 2 really solid receivers and 3 receivers and 2 TE that hopefully combined can make up for the lost production if Tillman doesnt play.
At HB Small isnt 100%, Sampson who knows about his ankle, JWT hasnt had much playing time, and Wright has had a fumbling problem. The opportunities to run will be there we just have to have someone available to do it.

Agreed. Tillman hurts but we are pretty loaded at receiver. Sampson is a big loss. Small is made of glass and Wright is basically the only RB we would play then.

Nothing like Dooley though….. Dooley would have done well here if he cared enough to recruit…He reminds me a of mixture of Dooley and Butch….. got job due to daddy’s name….. behaves like Butch Jones.

Agree that Beamer seems more like Butch than Dooley but I disagree that Dooley would’ve done well had he recruited. That was a huge problem of his but I think his personality made him difficult to work for. He brought in some good coaches to start off but they left as soon as they could. Heard lots of stories around town from people that dealt with either him or people that worked for him.

I could see a scenario where they have Tillman dressed out on on sideline,keep him ready kinda one of those break glass incase of emergency options...if it's an ankle or ligament issue they would be smart to play it safe.Florida is a big game but we've still got alot of season left to play so no reason to rush the unnecessary if you don't have to.
