🦬💩...any given saturday, especially if the SEC decides to still hold us back and have their attack dog refs intervene.

Florida is not a scrub, they have a lot of high level talent...they can win this game with ref help and their usual luck.

We need to stop being so critical. It's like people can't wait to jump on the staff...that staff is why you think we are better.
Coaches are only as good as the scoreboard shows. I think they're good. Now let them prove it.

The fact we already played a solid team and despite an off night on offense rolled up tons of yards and scored 34 has me pretty confident in this team. A healthy Tillman, Small, & Sampson would have me down right arrogant.

I think like Hyatt against Akron this game could become a coming out party for Bru or Keyton. (maybe Walker?) one of them will need to step into Tillman's role if he's not available and Florida won't give them the same sort of respect as they would Tillman. So they need to take advantage of that.

I also still think the Gators don't have anywhere near the front 7 that Pitt had, even if they have more size I feel like they have less experience and speed. So I think the running game will be a big factor for us in this game.
not having whatshisname out there at LB is a big deal for their defense. he was an animal in the Utah game.

USF ran for over 300 on them. UK ran all over them.

they very well could have/should have lost the Utah/USF games.

florida sucks. they know it, we know it.

so go treat them like we did USCe and MO last year. every bit of angst about this game is all in our heads. if the side of their helmet didn't say "gators" they wouldn't be ranked and nobody would be coming to Knoxville for this game to cover it like they are.

this whole scene has been created by the notion that this year's Florida team has the same value as past Florida teams, and that's simply not true, except for the uniforms they wear. so what this is, really, is a litmus test for Tennessee. this is THE opportunity we've been waiting for.

They're all here for us. so give 'em a show.
GBO.

agreed. but i'd be lying if it wasn't in the back of my head that in the one game that mattered so far....outside of bru, hyatt and ced, only Keyton has gotten any snaps, and i think he got one target in that game?

the good news is we did get two games to get the rest of those guys a bunch of snaps. i think it would be best to have a group out there that keeps Hyatt in the slot. so bru outside in Ced's spot. Keyton goes to the other side, and hyatt in the slot. and you work in Merrill and Squirrel in the rotation. speed, speed, speed.

i also think you get the TE's move involved in the passing game. and by more involved, i mean more than 1-2 target per game...maybe 3-5? especially on early downs. get in some rhythm, and get that tempo going. to me, that's the tell tale of this game, offensively....how efficient are we on 1st and 2nd down?

one thing that could be a giant positive if Ced is out or limited, is it forces targets to go elsewhere, and there are options. i still think RB screen shows up this week too. we do have guys that are capable, they just may not line up in the same spot as Ced............so while i'm not a fan of not having him out there, and would always rather have him out there.......sometimes, it actually works to your benefit to be forced to plan b, c, d, e...Especially when you do have guys that are capable.

and last thing...ced has been such a big part of our passing game....you have key on him, and he's a focal point. if he's not out there............who do you key on if your the defense? it has to change, to some degree, what they have to prepare for, and likely adds more to their workload, from a preparation standpoint.
Tight ends are going to eat Saturday. Two freshmen linebackers… RPO all day long. When they bite, hit the tight end right down the middle.

I agree The Pitt defense is def better than UFs. I think anybody who really knows CFB would agree. There’s several NFL players in that Pitt Defensive front. Morgan, Dennis, Kancey, Baldonado, Alexandre.

This has to be the most one dimensional and downright awful Florida offense we've faced. They haven't put up 170 yards passing in a game this season...

It would be downright miraculous for AR to suddenly find his footing as a passer in this game. His "warm-up" game against USF went poorly and now he's on the road. No chance to regain any confidence before being thrown to the wolves. That said, downright miraculous seems to happen when they play us, so we'll see.

it would be better if he did, yes. lol. but nobody's getting fired if he doesn't, i think that was the tone orangeSC took issue with, or perceived it to be.

Some are expecting a big win and can handle it if it doesn't happen. The optimism of posters like Doc is fun. Others, not so much.

i see some building the excuse to bash if we lose. They'll bring the usual, tiresome melt down again. They just can't handle their expectations not being met.

Pretty much everybody was predicting a
7-5 to 9-3 season, with 8-4 being the average. And UF was one of those possible losses. We can lose (but we won't) and still have the season almost everybody expected, if not better. I know, but it's the Gators.

Yeah, it's a must-win... for some fans' sanity.

We can analyze this thing to death and as fans there's nothing wrong with that. Injuries happen. Elite programs overcome. The season is a marathon, so one game should never be a measuring stick for success. Beating Florida doesn't mean we beat anyone else. Losing to Florida doesn't mean we lose to anyone else. I'm with Doc, choose optimism and belief. Vols 41-17.

My guess is they lower their heads and hire Hugh Freeze.
Lower their heads hell that is right up their alley. The shadest program possibly in the history of college football and would not expect anything less. Hire him and the saga continues. Tide wannabes and can not get over it.

2 things our defense has to do
1. maintain gap integrity: Florida is pretty good at running the ball. Or at least they have been so far, and Richardson is a pretty good runner in his own right

2. Hit Richardson Early, often, and with force. He needs to remember each hit for a couple days afterwards. Gotta be clean hits though, we can’t give them something to galvanize around

Richardson showed in the UK and USF games that when he is rattled and under pressure, he’s a bad decision maker and inaccurate (usually misses high).

Vols 34-UF 23
I think these two things are super important and Vols roll!!!

Here's how I want the game to go Saturday..

Exactly. Mom’s spaghetti

UF is a "need to win" game for sure. It's a chance to make a statement and a hurdle that must be jumped to meet program goals for the season. A game doesn't impact anyone's job security, but a W checks a box that needs to be checked.

UT made a commitment to the entire staff, signed them to longer-term contracts and just extended them, as planned. This was structured at the outset to build a stable foundation and culture for the program. That said, UF is the first stepping stone toward beating our rivals and getting to the top of the division. If we want to be #2 in the SECE, we beat UF and UK. We give UGA a game. And we show recruits that we're legitimately on our way. We need this win, and we have the players, coaches, fans and venue to get it.

Also, despite what some fans believe we're a pretty stout defense.

Akron's QB had 44 attempts and completed on 32 of them, for less than 250 yards and 0 TDs. This was against 2nd/3rd team guys for about half the game too.

Against Pitt we held Slovis to 58.3% and less than 200 yards passing before putting him out of the game. Also picked him off. Patti had 79 passing yards and 45% completion. They didn't exploit or expose anything on our defense.

Ball State had 43 attempts and despite them focusing on short throws and screens to mitigate our pass rush we still held them to under 270 passing yards and picked him off twice.

I mean the defense hasn't really faced an elite offense yet...but they are holding teams to under 350 total yards (52nd best in the country) and giving up just 14.3 points (27th best in the country)

Not only has AR never experienced an atmosphere like this, neither has Napier as a HC.

The 2013 team was probably worse and they still beat us by 2 scores.

2013 Gators: 171 passing yards per game and 146 rushing yards per game and 18.8ppg. Total offense 317 yards
2022 Gators: 141 passing yards per game and 212 rushing yards per game and 25.3ppg. Total offense 353 yards

Now if you look at the 2013 Gators and just factor in the games played before Knoxville

222 passing yards per game and 192 rushing yards per game and 20ppg. Total offense 414 yards

2013 Gators were broken against LSU...going into that game they were 4-1 with only a 5 point loss @ Miami (who finished 9-4). I hope this year we're the SEC road test that breaks them!
