I never liked it because if one kid that was good enough couldn't play because of the cost I thought that was wrong. They always said we could do fund raisers and the like but my thing was that those parents couldn't get off to participate in that either. Burn out for kids is real and playing that many games is good for some but as I look back at some of the ones that parents "pushed" them I found that a large percentage never played high school ball much less college.
Everybody likes to see there children succeed but I think letting them be good at what they like is best. I played all sports growing up but football was my sport. My son played baseball but never football and I had people say why isn't he playing and my response was he ain't me. He made All Stars in baseball and was tired of playing and told me he wanted to try something else and I asked after All Stars and he said no now. I asked what he wanted to do and he said In-line hockey so I told him we would get his equipment. He played Ice Hockey in High School , In-Line for UT Chattanooga (club sport) and plays Ice Hockey to this day in the Beer Leagues in Nashville. I still enjoy watching him play and he's 28 and what I enjoy most is watching him glance up in the stands after he makes a play to this very day.
Yeah my dad pushed baseball hard. I started playing 8u travel ball when I had just turned 6. Played fall ball every year as well. Afterbrec league I didn't have any interest in basketball so that was a no go, and I wasn't allowed to play football because I was too small. My mom wanted me to start wrestling earlier but my dad threw a fit, but I had some friends that did it and I brought it up.

I totally understand the cost thing too, I was lucky enough that dad made enough to pay the bills and mom worked part time to cover ball for Mt sister and I. I understand not everyone having that luxury though.

It might happen once.......but not twice. Not while they are a child in my home.
I’ll let them do it in my house…. My son did a lot of those same actions during the game Saturday… it’s just kids having fun….My son is also an honor roll student…. Never in any trouble…. Runs across the street and helps my elderly neighbor every time she brings home groceries… it can go too far but this was harmless.

If Buster freaking Douglas could beat Glass Mikes ass like a drum...how in the hell do people think he could contend with The Greatest in his ass whuppin prime?

it isnt possible, he was just too fast and too skilled.

I agree that you should let them play it all until at least High School… maybe specialize at that time if it looks like you will excel in it…. We play travel ball and love it….it’s not for everyone though.

Not saying Mike could take Ali but you do realize Tyson was knee deep in cocaine, women and booze leading up to the Douglas fight, right? he should have never stepped into the ring.

For the money I always thought Roy Jones Jr has the fasted hands in boxing. Loved watching him. Haven't watched boxing in about 20 years though. Its a huge yawn now.

In all fairness..........Tyson treated that fight like an exhibition.
I'd still take Tyson, but who knows.

The buckshot as you are more likely to hit something…and then the slug to complete the job. The slug will go thru walls and other objects that a wounded intruder may hide behind.

If you start with the slug and miss, you may not get off a second round if the intruder is armed. And if you do get a solid hit…subsequent rounds would not be necessary.
I have birdshot-buckshot-slug.
First one shows I’m willing to shoot plus light load smaller pellets less likely to penetrate walls. Second round heavier load fewer/ heavier pellets. Third round if necessary pure destruction.

Either Tyson lands a knockout punch, or it goes to decision. And if it goes to decision, it could go either way. I don't think prime Ali had enough power to knock prime Mike Tyson out. He could outscore him, but it's not a guarantee he would.
You've drank the kool-aid. Ali in his prime would have ruined Glass Mike...Mike ain't never been able to take a lot of punishment, and prime Ali would have punished him badly.

I grew up in the late 70s-and 80s too, and back then all I knew of Ali was old washed up flabby Ali, so I thought Tyson was the Baddest man on the planet until I watched somebody actually fight back and drop his ass instead of curling up in a little ball of goo like everybody not named Tony Tucker had.

Buster F'n Douglas ruined the Tyson mystique forever for me.

I remember it..The whole nation was pulling for the underdog and watched in amazement.

Roy was the truth.

I once drank the Tyson kool-aid aid because I too grew up in his era...but since then I have watched all the old Ali fights...Prime Ali was the greatest heavyweight ever imo...the only one that I think was truly an argument was Joe Louis.

Young Ali was too fast to understand. His only weakness then was when he felt like acting the fool. Only then could he be caught

Going back and reading all that has been said would help you out here.

Also, Ali was not the greatest...that would be Joe Louis.
