Isn’t Tim Banks the safeties coach?
He was at PSU. Martinez is DBs coach, but I’m sure Banks is heavily involved. It’s tough because I suspect a lot of the issue was with Banks’ scheme. Soft zone, bend but don’t break, etc. It’s more complicated but…

Then you see our kids not tracking the ball, drawing dumb penalties, busting coverages and it’s hard not to be critical of the position coach.

If it’s personnel related I think we’ll find out soon. Staff’s gone to great lengths to get talent in here for the back end.

I’d always been fairly happy with WM in the past, so my suspicion has leaned toward it was an issue with Banks. His scheme vs Clemson was outstanding, but he did have a month to prepare. He was a first year full time play caller on defense. He should get better. And with better players, hopefully we’ll be ok.

NCAA needs to change the parameters of a charge call.

How refs gesture it also needs to change. They like to call it bc its dramatic and they like to make the gesture.

I haven’t watched one single minute, but the charge call is counter-intuitive to the freedom of movement rules the NCAA implemented several years ago to increase scoring. Apparently, officials missed the memo.

This is the 1st LV game I've watched in a long, long time. The way this game was hyped, I thought it was the 1st time since Pat passed away that we played Uconn. I was genuinely excited to watch it. I got duped!
Same here , this is my 1st and probably last one. Kelly cant coach them to play on either end. No way she remains the coach here, if she does then they have given up on womens basketball

LV's have the same problem they always have - very few pure shooters and too many turnovers. It's the same every season.

That is a recruiting problem as much as anything. You have to recruit shooters. UCONN is playing the way elite teams play - shoot 3s, win. We are playing 1950s basketball because we can't shoot.

Was out to dinner with the wife. Got home and checked the Lady Vols score. It was at the end of the 1st qtr. ugh. Opened a bottle of Smoke Wagon Uncut Unfiltered bourbon. On my 2nd generous poor. Feel a whole lot better. 😎

@InVOLuntary as I know you will appreciate. Cheers!

InVOLuntary drinks Early Times and Goldschlager. .

I haven’t seen many dumb penalties. Most of the PI or holding in the secondary were good penalties to prevent a big play. Scheme definitely plays soft coverage and our super experienced safeties are just not good, especially Tank. Hopefully he gets the bench next year

Vols point guard play lost this game. LV have no real point guard that offers anything. No scoring, no playmaking and no defense.

The lack of a leader is obvious. IDK who the offense runs through. So yeah, I absolutely agree.

There is also too much standing around on offense. Very little movement from the players without the ball.

As Pat used to say: “I have plenty of shooters. What I need is some makers”.

Ha. For real. I should choose my words more carefully. I don't understand how a team with as much paper talent as the LVs still have is so bad at shooting. We have some good points but you will lose every time against decent competition without playmakers. And we don't have a single one.

Crazy. Jordan Horston comes back and drops 27 on UConn, but we played worse as a team. When she's out, we play better as a team with fewer lapses on defense.

Horston is really just an individual player imo. She's not desciplined defensively and it's hurting the team. Then she runs the offense through herself and the rest of the team doesn't move or get engaged.
