No, I actually went back and read it again. It came off as doing it the right way is not going to work because that means you don’t have a goal of winning championships. Maybe it’s just because I have read that several times on here. Even read some that said that absolutely won’t work. But if we only get a Mark Richt for about ten years while chasing championships, I will certainly enjoy not having a Dooley, Butch, Pruitt or Lane.

So, saying I'm all for doing it the right way comes off as me saying the right way is not going to work? Then why would I be all for doing it the right way? I think you're projecting.

I'm all for doing it the right way. Every school and every coach should strive for such. But it also has to lead to success on the field and playing for championships. I'm not saying every year, but never winning a championship is not my idea of success. Success is being in the running for a conference championship and the potential of a national championship. Again, not necessarily every year, but more times than not.

Mark Richt was a good coach who at least appeared to do it the right way. But he could never take that next step. I'm truly hopeful that Coach Heupel is better than that and can take us to championships. This season has certainly stoked the belief that he can.

He may not have a choice. How do you whiff on an entire recruiting class? At THIS program? No excuse for that IMO. That's a huge black eye.

The shine is off the program, but he always has a choice. He's going to have vocal support-- and vocal opposition-- either way. Women's programs at UT are a political minefield. In some ways, issues have escalated with NIL, the portal and the success of UT men's programs. DW is a much stronger AD than those before him, but nobody's excited to open a can of worms.

But he's going to have to fix the women's programs if they can't fix themselves. Softball might be able to get back on track this year. Karen seems to have addressed major issues head-on. Theoretically, WBB could take a redemptive turn, as well. And I'm sure nobody is hoping for that more fervently than the AD and Chancellor.

You can do it the “right way” and still win National championships. That LSU team and multiple Bama teams had good grades and didn’t get into a lot of trouble. Super talented as well obviously. I haven’t heard too many incidents on Georgia either the last two seasons. You can recruit at a top 5 level and also do it the “right way” I just hope we’re capable of getting enough elite players to push Tennessee over the top.

My point being you address your future through recruiting, and whiffing on all your targets doesn't bode well for the future. So his choice seems to be address it now or kick the can down the road. I guess I'm of the opinion that it's better to address it now rather than later when more damage has been done. I have a deep respect for our lady's basketball program because of Pat Summitt. It deserves better than what it currently is.

Or like you said @Weezer UT will be stuck in the Mark Richt level. Good never elite. We’ll find out eventually

Perhaps she could be encouraged to find an excellent college men’s or women’s coach and spend time learning…

UTAD asks the HCs every year what they need to be successful... then provides the resources they need. The first step is admitting she needs help she doesn't already have... then getting it and using it to best advantage.

It’s not the end all. Although more so of a buildup of things. People are yelling louder and louder as SCjr, LSU pass UT. It’s almost like watching downfall of the football program. DW can’t ignore it forever as he touts a “championship culture” when that program certainly isn’t sniffing a championship anytime soon. But they get good grades and help in the community! Well that’s nice but there’s a problem with that, they’re not winning. You want a great community service programs and good grades go to Vanderbilt or a Big 10 school. Looking at next year and yikes. Lol. Might as wel cut bait now and try to let the new coach save next year and try to make it to a tournament

Well the other annoying part is that this roster has talent on it, so it's not like they lack the talent... quite a few of the lady vols were top 100 players in their classes.

It's really just not good coaching at the core of it. And as she loses talent it's only going to get worse.

I agree with you. Kicking the can is an avoidance strategy. The time to make a change is when you no longer believe someone can get something done when given the resources needed to do it. Letting them fall shorter and shorter of expectations is hole digging. It isn't productive or rewarding for anyone.

I know it. What’s concerning about it. We’ll see though. Hope for the best

Smart move here, adds depth in the QB room so that helps us. He'll get in a SEC S&C program and get to learn under one of the best offensive minds in college for however long he wants to stick around so when he does decide to transfer out in the future if he doesn't earn a scholarship he'll be in far better shape to compete to start at the new spot immediately.

I'm surprised Jaheim Singeltary hasn't found a new home. Not someone I expect us to pursue because of his lack of game experience, but huge potential guy. Originally a 5 *, now a 4*, and still a freshman. Good size. I thought someone would snatch him up quickly.

Why does UT not want to make a decision “right now”?

Is there a benefit to extending this out? I don’t follow.
Probably has something to do with great community service and grades or whatever. They don’t Hand out national championship trophies for those though obviously. UT can hire a Championship coach and still have a team that does all of the community work etc. they aren’t separate as it seems to be for some

The top playmakers-- Horston and Jackson-- plus some good-to-potentially-very-good role players, is why, theoretically, the LVs could turn it around and play better as a team heading into the postseason. But the year-after-year issues-- fundamentals, development, conditioning, game management, recruiting-- need to be fixed. Is it fixable with the staff they have? IDK.
