lol...you're on one again

Barnes is winning at 66.4% in year 8. Equating that success to Football, it would mean Heupel in his first 8 seasons is averaging 8.6 wins, with 3 appearances in the SEC title game and 1 win, while also making the CFP 3 or 4 times (counting 4 seeds or higher as an equivalent).
Barnes makes a sweet 16 he can make the noise quiet down a lot. If UT fails to get past the first weekend yet again I think the noise will be too unbearable. It’ll be disastrous on twitter and everywhere else.

You have to be able to score to make it deep in March. The team that shoots the best usually wins. That includes free throws. Hot teams in March score even against elite defenses. I'll never forget Purdue throwing up 3s blindfolded from the hash with men right up in their faces and hitting them most every time especially when it mattered most. If you can't shoot the lights out consistently when it matters most you better have a 7 footer who can't be stopped who also hits his free throws.

Recruiting talk. If we count Texas and Oklahoma, The top 4 classes are in the SEC. 6 of the top 10 are SEC. 10 of the top 20 are SEC. 12 of top 25 are SEC. 15 of top 33 are in SEC. The lowest ranking class was Vandy at #52. Schiano was 57.
So we just keep being proven right? And the media is going to keep ignoring how wrong they were?

In our 4 losses we've averaged

33.8% FG
23.6% 3PT

We've not lost a game where we shot above 30% from 3PT so far. Another interesting stat is that Arizona was the only team that beat us that didn't shoot 30% or better from 3PT against us. It's also no surprise that the top 3 teams in free throw attempts against us were all losses. Colorado also still shot a high number from the line too (7th most of anyone we've faced).

It's weird, when we implode it's at all levels, we're suddenly not hitting shots and then we're not defending the 3PT ball as well and also fouling more.

I mean last year that team had 7 losses in the regular season. But the 2nd round exit kind of took the luster off winning the SECT for a lot of fans. KC went off to end the year and that's why they had that run, this team is more balanced I think.

So could see them lose another 2-3 games and make a late season run if someone gets hot to end the year. Regular SEC title doesn't mean as much as winning the SECT and/or going to at least the Sweet Sixteen imo.

Admiral in 2017-18
13.9 Pts, 6.4 Reb, 1.5 Ast
Admiral in 2018-19
16.5 Pts, 6.1 Reb, 2.0 Ast

people remember Admiral admirably (woah) because of what he did in the big games, especially 2018-19:

Reg Season:
Louisville: 20 pts, 6 reb, 4 ast
#2 Kansas: 21, 6, 2
#1 Gonzaga: 30, 6, 1
Memphis: 29, 11, 2
#13 LSU: 27, 9, 1

SECT:
Miss St: 20, 7, 2
Kentucky: 21, 3, 5

NCAAT:
Colgate: 19, 4, 1
Iowa: 19, 5, 0
Purdue: 21, 9, 2

Not to mention his dunks, threes, steals, blocks all came at very very crucial times. Even in games that he didn't dominate, like you say. It was always what the doctor ordered. He either set the tone with a dunk or met the moment with a crucial play.

Look at his confidence on offense in that video. This team is missing that.

He wanted the ball in his hands in big moments and either made the play, or drew the D so his teammate(s) could make the play. AS is as close to a killer as we've had in the Barnes era.

just watch the last 1-2 minutes of that highlight video and notice the opponent, scenario, time left. How could you say that guy wasn't a killer?? lmao

No. Moved here to draw retirement from another state and double dip. I understand now why Jesus wasn't born here. They couldn't find three wise men and a virgin.

I'm not sure about next year... Key is the only guaranteed player we're losing. Santi, JJJ, ON, and even Uros I think all could return with the COVID year.

Have discussed in Basketball forum with some of the regulars there, but if Phillips returns and we don't lose anyone unexpected (transfers) we could be pretty solid next year.

We've got 13 on scholarship right now and 3 coming in (since Freddie came in early and counts already). Key leaves and that'll mean we need at least 2 more to leave...I think Uros is likely gone and then ON or JJJ would be my next guess. Santi's dating a girl and she's only a Junior so he may take advantage of staying another season.
Even if we lose more, there's always the portal. I'm wondering if Edwards will be ready to split PG minutes with ZZ next year? Or if Dilione can do it? Or if we'll need to look to the portal for PG help? ZZ needs someone who can spell him and come in without too much of a drop off.

And we also need Awaka and Aidoo to put in major work in the offseason. Especially if Uros and ON leave. Post play needs to improve. It's another concern that I wonder if we may need to look to the portal to address. I would be surprised if Estrella and Phillips come in ready to play. It could happen, but post players normally take time to develop.

Yeah, I like that you have ZZ, BJ and Dilione all practicing together right now. Carr incoming is another quality guard that could potentially be a PG type player.

Mashack seems like a 3 more than anything right now reminds me of J-Rich early in his career. We also don't know yet what DJ Jefferson could be, he's another top 150 kid. I mean it's nitpicking but if we had landed Yuri Collins or Tyrese Hunter instead of Key we'd probably have won 1 or 2 of these games we lost.

If Santi leaves, Carr could come in and see immediate minutes at the two. It'll be interesting to see what players do when the season is over, whether they opt to stay or go. But the portal and how Rick works it, if he needs to, will also be interesting.

Agreed. Next year I think Phillips has the potential to be more of an impact as a freshmen than Estrella. Mainly because Cade is very athletic and plays above the rim while also being a pretty strong rebounder and shot blocker. He isn't going to have a bag of offensive moves, but I think because of his willingness to defend and rebound he'll earn minutes sooner. Him and Awaka could REALLY help one another get to another level by the time their upperclassmen.

Seems Estrella is a bit like Aidoo, hit a late growth spurt and a lot of the interior post work he isn't really strong enough to do consistently.
