I think the fan base cares immensely about the regular season. Do you think attendance or TV viewership would be anywhere near the same for a 10 and 20 team compared to a 26 and 4 team?

Winning is winning. What this fan base wants is a deep March run, not a regular season banner.

At least try

Really don't want Oats making Alabama a power in basketball for decades
Tennessee would have a better shot to get him than most would think and that’s due to Tennessee supporting basketball ALOT more than how Bama supports their basketball program both with finances and fans. Pay is ALOT more. Plus his extensive relationship with AD White.

im happy with the hire from a coaching perspective, but im worried about the recruiting perspective of it

Honest question, I am curious what you know about his recruiting ability? Does he not have the personality for it? He doesn't put enough time into it?

Obvious he probably brings very limited previous contacts with him to the table. But our offensive system and other coaches get his foot in the door. Wonder what area he will be given to recruit?

According to VQ he was spoken to at some point about the job.

IDK the specifics but it likely was a phone or video call. They do a toe-dip first, then a follow-up before bringing them to campus. CJH has been in SoCal, so maybe they did a quick sitdown. But IDT the search went far or deep-- and that's nothing against Faris, who could be a solid hire for UT at some point.

So basically too many chiefs and not enough Indians..I know it’s difficult situation to handle considering all of the opinions out there on which direction they should go when it comes to the lady vols but Danny hasn’t let me down in any way on who thinks fits the job here so I’d definitely let him do his job and trust his pick…unless there’s just some serious big money out there with influence that’s dictating the possible change..I know that’s a tricky situation.we’ve all seen it here first hand with the Haslems

He'll navigate around it-- I just don't think a change is imminent. I hope it doesn't get any uglier-- that's not good for anybody and makes it harder to recruit out of it.

Putting together some research on RPA (since there are more case studies than IPA it seems) for work.

Has anyone had experience with implementing either at work and the potential costs and ROI?

Brother ya can't drink at work...not the IPAs or RPAs...hell even Natty Light is frowned upon!

Here comes the obligatory "let downs" and "underwhelmed" thoughts about the new TE coach. We just can't resist forming strong opinions about topics we have almost zero knowledge about. People mad they didn't get a SPLASH hire for the new TE coach, lol. This guy might not do a good job. I couldn't tell you anything about his coaching or recruiting style (just like nobody else on here can either). But I know CJH took his time and has a lot more facts to draw his opinion from than I do. This TE coach making or breaking our season might just be a little far fetched to me....

Who the hell WOULD constitute a splash hire for a TE coach? I don't think one exists. TE Coaches are virtually unknown to everyone but the very geekiest of fans.

Analyst and Quality Control coaches all recruit. Most have more contact with recruits than the position coaches. They cannot visit the recruit, but often they have looked through thousands of hours of video on players and have made first contact with players via Twitter and through HS coaches. Recruits text, tweet and call analysts and QCs on a regular basis.
Some times they get mentioned by recruits, but most the time they go unmentioned. Analyst and QCs often pickup recruits at airports and transport recruits and families to campus. They lead campus tours and take them to meals.
I wrote all this to say that I have no doubt that our TE coach can recruit.

Imo, they never should've gone away from the women's athletic department. That was a positive for women's athletics and the progression of women in sports management. It staffed an entire office totally dedicated to women's sports - rather than one huge department primarily focused on the cash cows.

If we want to get real squirrelly, having a Head AD who's also in charge of MBB, FB, and BB, a Women's AD for WBB, SB, Soc, VB, then an Olympic Sports AD would be something. Idk if they already have associate ADs in those roles or not, but I'm talking about hiring and firing privileges. Instead what those 'lesser' sports sometimes get is a subpar coach and staff with a long leash because "as long as you aren't a total dumpster fire and your athletes are staying out of trouble I don't care if you lose or win." Plus those ADs could work on adding more sports. Because Danny White sure isn't thinking about that (neither are most fans, but it still irks me the lack of sports the SEC competes in compared to other leagues).

Most of it's cost-driven. WBB used to be a revenue sport-- now it's not and hasn't been for some time. It's a vicious circle. Attendance is down, so UT raises ticket prices to compensate, which drives attendance down further and widens the loss. UT is one of the few SEC schools with no gymnastics program-- a very popular, high-profile women's sport that can draw big crowds but loses big money. Right now, UT is focused on growing what it has.

I saw Tennessee put out something on social media that had a graphic of the 2023 recruiting class and it’s ranking or whatever. You think AD White trying to push for more of that type of stuff on Social media to drive up interest and clicks among other recruits and people? You’ll see Bama and Georgia posting their #1 classes at times but I don’t remember Tennessee doing that until recently
