I don’t want Barnes gone but Texas is in the exact same spot as they were with Barnes…. He hadn’t won the division or made it out of the first weekend in his last seven years at Texas.

Sure…DW is good. But UNC and Duke promoted assistants. It’s still a gamble, and there is no guarantee.

Maybe the change helped Barnes, but his time at UT has far exceeded what Texas has done since he left.

He’s done a heck of a job and I enjoy the team being consistently relevant

He has made it out of the first weekend once since coming here… Shaka was 19-9 11-6 in the conference the year he was fired… They are seeking more than what Barnes has given, imo. True…. I don’t think a change needs to be made but I feel DW looks for a certain standard in a coach and it increases the likelihood that coach will be successful… all of our previous AD’s had no plan and that was obvious.

Barnes has shared a regular season title and won a tournament title. Texas hasn’t won the first and only won their tournament in Smart’s last year because Kansas had Covid issues. Texas hasn’t made it to the second weekend. Barnes has been top 5 for weeks and finished ranked in the AP poll several times. Texas finished 21 in Smart’s last year. Far exceeded what Texas has done.

I get that Texas wants to be better, but it is also because Barnes set the standard and showed what Texas could become. Just wait until DW hires that mid major coach, and we all hope he can win at this level, too.

With DW track record and his willingness to spend big. I have no doubts about his hiring abilities. Sure, Duke and UNC tried something different but Tennessee is different situation. Every place is different. Just lucky we have DW. When Rick goes it’ll be retirement. Wether that’s an encouraged retirement or not nobody will ever know thankfully. But as you said. 100% confidence in AD White’s hiring ability. I would be petrified if we were still being ran by the buffoons of the past 20 years. Thankfully we aren’t anymore

Yeah and it was literally like two weeks ago we destroyed Texas and looked like the best team in college basketball

Kinda dumb to give up because of this down stretch

And oh yeah we beat the defending national champions this year too.

Not a bad season at all and it's far from over.

Man life is really beating me down as usually my grandma has had chemo treatnents for the past few years.Within the past 3 days she has completely regressed to the point where all saying our goodbyes rite now..Devastating to say the least.Man I'm a nervous wreck anymore its just one thing after another after another...Prayers would be greatly appreciated although I'm beginning to question if anything works cause I'm taking a beating this past year or so...thanks yall

Whenever I was a kid, there was a period where we only made 1 NCAA Tourney in 14 seasons. Yes, I would love for Barnes to make a deep run; and yes, he can be very frustrating, his offenses, his style of ball, the bad losses, the early exits...

However, 1 in 14 years, compared to every single season, SEC Championships, #1 rankings, perennial Top 15-20 teams...

Some of you are the epitome of laughable.
