You can really tell alot of VOL fans on SM know nothing about baseball. Some already believe this season is going to be bad lol this will be a good team, ppl need to realize you don't have to win every game. Teams want to win the series.
Baseball is a long season, hitting will get better as the season moves along. Especially when the other two starters get to play.

Tennessee baseball definitely needed to grow it's fanbase and I couldn't be happier that people are caring about baseball...but man. Some nights it's going to be painful lol.

Why did we do this?

Bama came out a did a mocking version of our One Fly We All Fly pregame and then taunted the crowd. We came back with striking their celebration. It's like gator chomping them. Later some imbecile attempted to make it sound sacrilegious or something () but it was always a bammer celebration cheer and didn't have any other meaning until we beat Bama in a huge national game. As was pointed out yesterday, every time Bammer gets beat their fans start crying their "but you celebrated wrong" schtick. Same as football and the Neyland celebration. It's Bammaw's coping mechanism. I don't think they like getting beat and hearing Dixieland Delight in Knoxville. Poor babies. In that video our players are doing that in front of our student section, thanking them for all the love and support they get and are loving life.

For the record, all my negative Vol baseball posts last night were jokes. I’m excited about the season and hope Vitello coaches here for life.

I’m actually not worried about the hitting. Arizona is a good program and their Friday night starter looked legit to me. I bet we start raking before the weekend is over.

I think some people looked at our roster and realized we did lose a good bit of offensive production. They then thought we would struggle to score. This one game vindicates them in their mind.

we're a top 15 team... sorry, we don't have any "dogs" on this team to put them on their back and push forward. Not the same swagger... it's fine, I don't know many who expected a repeat of last season. We'll always be competitive though.

It’s just game one….. last year we opened with a bunch of poor teams and only scored 2 runs the first time we played a team similar to Arizona…. Won’t be the same kind of regular season as last year but hopefully a better run to the World Series.

It is all of these rules changes they have made in an effort to speed up games. Once in the box and pitcher toes the mound they are not allowing time to be called.

The home plate ump had clear intent. We went to a PAC 12 school's park to play the home team that used their conference's umps and Tony felt too bad to get himself tossed in the first game.

We were missing two transfer starters. The SS from Kansas will probably be a first round draft choice. The kid from Cincy can pound the ball.

Glad they got punched in the mouth by the umps and AZ in the first game. Should set the tone for hard work and chips on the shoulders ahead.

As already posted this team will be different. Over the course of the season they will improve and hopefully peak at the right time.

I think AZ has 2 or 3 Top 50ish draft prospects. Grand Canyon does as well. I think Dollander and Maui are our only Top 50 prospects and of course Maui isn't playing this weekend and Dollander pitched last night.

AZ did play good defense. Not a bad experience for our guys. Be glad when we get our pitching coach and two missing players into the mix. Long season is long.
