For the record, all my negative Vol baseball posts last night were jokes. I’m excited about the season and hope Vitello coaches here for life.

I’m actually not worried about the hitting. Arizona is a good program and their Friday night starter looked legit to me. I bet we start raking before the weekend is over.

Glad that you clarified. You were about to be excommunicated and deported to the FF. Just kidding, but reading your posts, I thought a FF regular could take back the impression that the RF is a pretty negative forum…

Hell a lot of Vol football and bball fans also don’t know anything about those sports. And not just on SM. Ever visited a game thread? As soon as the opponent scores a TD it’s lights out for the season

On here, game football thread, soon as we get behind by a touchdown or the other team does something cool, it’s ‘we suck again’ , you can set your watch to it It’s a little annoying

I didn’t see it, but I believe the home plate ump later gave time to an Arizona batter. I don’t know the rule, but what if the pitcher addresses the runner and stands there for 10+ seconds? That can be considered an advantage.

I agree. Like every other rule, up to the individual umps to enforce them equitably. Going to just lead to more arguments that will them slow down the game.

You can really tell alot of VOL fans on SM know nothing about baseball. Some already believe this season is going to be bad lol this will be a good team, ppl need to realize you don't have to win every game. Teams want to win the series.
Baseball is a long season, hitting will get better as the season moves along. Especially when the other two starters get to play.

The Idiot Margin sucks...there is no way you lose that much offense off of a team, and it not have a huge effect on productivity...especially until new lineups have time to gel.

Anybody that knows baseball knew we were only going as far as our pitching will take us this year...and we have some pretty good pitching.

I think the offense will be above average when everybody gets in and lineups gel a little over time....but it will be nothing like last year....that was a really special offensive team.

Our pitching is going to be excellent. I am thinking that it's going to be more like Bobby Cox Braves teams and less like our insane hitting team of last year. Still really good but not homerun derby --which was so much fun last year.

Last year….. we started out against a mediocre/bad Georgia southern team…. We didn’t play Texas until several games in and we scored 2 runs on 7 hits…. Last night against a comparable team to Texas we scored 1 run on 6 hits….. it’s way too early to know what kind of hitting team we have… With the philosophy that we teach…. I bet we end up as the top 2-3 power teams in the SEC this year.
