All the hype... #2 in the country... and get beat right out of the gate by two unranked teams... meanwhile all the other SEC teams/top 10 took care of business... but yes, we should come up with excuses cause UT... How about we are just not as good as least year and we got some biased hype and a ranking we probably don't deserve which is evident so far this weekend...

I don’t know about anybody else still up reading crap like this, but all I read was blah, blah and more blah. What did it actually say besides we suck? I’ve got a sawbuck for the first person that can decipher this mess.

Haven’t read many of the reactions to the BaseVols 0-2 start but we clearly were spoiled last year with a season that is a rarity. Replacing almost all of our offensive firepower was almost assuredly gonna yield these results. We are horrid offensively. I know it’s baseball and a lot of games left to be played but gonna be a very, very rough year but I’m still rooting for them.

Today wasn't just baseball. Today was a horrible day for Tennessee. I know your cold, dead communist heart feels nothing, but I'm a sensitive soul when it comes to my Vols. We can meet at the Papermill Waffle House and I'll kick your bolshevik butt.

With that budget in that state, Georgia should be #1 EVERY year. Especially after going back to back. We gotta step our game up. How do the muttards have more than 1.5 million than everyone else? Is this how they've been paying recruits all these years under everyone's noses. It's too obvious for it to be true according to the NCAA I suppose.

Base vols get a pass this weekend. Quality teams that squeaked by them. That being said we were only missing 2 players. We can't be 2 players away from being this incumbent offensively. We tore up the SEC last year, we will get everyone's best shot this year. We better get it going soon, its not like there is 162 games to be played. We just might have lost more than we think from last years team. I was in the boat that we didn't bring in quite enough with the production we lost. Talent alone won't get you by with our schedule.

Last years baseball team was like the basketball team with Admiral and Grant. This years team is a little meh on personality, other than ZZ. . I just hope the baseball team has some guys that don’t care and have no fear. We have plenty of talent but somebody has to be a strong leader.

Baseball team looks like they are pressing a bit due to the high ranking. They swing at a lot of pitches out of the zone, they make poor choices on the base paths and they aren’t clean in the field. The pitching is clearly there, it’s the other elements they need to fix. They are a young, inexperienced team, which I didn’t appreciate till I watched them. Having a rough weekend might be a good thing for them in the end. We will see.

Alright, my ground rules are these:

Excuses can only be made by coaches, players and people in sports administration, because they are the only ones whose decisions can directly impact results on the field. They are the only ones who are and can be held accountable for those decisions.

Commenters on message boards are offering explanations or opinions, good or bad. Most of the baseball discussion has been on the order of trying to explain what we are seeing early on - that this is a much more inexperienced team than many of us realized, which explains why they look mediocre out of the gate.

It is obvious that this team is going through growing pains, better now then when it counts in SEC play. I can’t remember where it was mentioned, but someone said we only return one player with more than 100 at bats, it will take some time for us to get in a rythm

Must have a load of recruiters. I say we double down if we want top 5 or 3 classes.

It seems that has been an issue here under Barnes. The 2018-19 team was a pretty good shooting team overall but since then, it hasn't been very good. Barnes has got to try and recruit better shooters or early tournament exits and losing to bad teams will likely continue. It doesn't matter how good the D is if you can't shoot.

2018-19 ranked 6th in FG%
2019-20 ranked 207th in FG%
2020-21 ranked 184th in FG%
2021-22 ranked 216th in FG%
2022-23 ranked 274th in FG% (season still going)

We've also started shooting a lot more 3s.

I'd be curious what our eFG% rankings are. If that's even listed for cbb.

Already received troll texts from fans of other teams. People that didn't say anything before UT was good, then only texted me when Tennessee lost, and would text me to tell me all about how Tennessee didn't win "the right way."
