If teams are allowed to smother one of ours, we should be allowed to be just as physical. The problem is we can't be just as physical most of the time, a lot of times when we are, the refs call silly fouls on us. In a lot of our losses our opponents have had double digit more takes and makes. Duke is an NCAA darling. Don't be surprised if it turns out to be one of those games on Saturday, especially if Pat Adams is reffing our game again.

I predict that instead of Adams, they will fly the Shows crew in to put the nail in our coffin, Saturday. Regardless, it will be one or the other because, well, Tennessee.

Vescovi has been beaten to near death this season. He is grabbed, held, tackled and run over throughout every game with very little retribution by the refs. It is targeting - intentional by the opposing head coach since they know they will not be called for it. That affects his O - shooting and assists.

A point of emphasis in officiating a few years ago was the hand check. Notice that has disappeared? We use it as much as the opponents.

JJJ and Phillips need to get their acts together, which I predict they will against Duke as they match up better.

The team has the same problem as the LVs without ZZ. They do not value the basketball, thus, turnover machine. However, I am amazed at how Mashak has responded. He is learning and getting better every game. Bright future.

The team has the same problem as the LVs with scoring. They are way too streaky and missing too many uncontested shots, like FT's.

The team has the same problem as the LVs with game day coaching. Curious substitution patterns and non usage of time outs. In a win or go home situation, it is not really a good idea to let the players work out of a slump or at least attempt to stop a 13-0 run a bit sooner there Rick. I get holding a time out to the end for good reasons. But you had two. I really don't know of any other quality FF/NC winning HCs that do not use TOs to stop runs in important games. Might need to be a point of emphasis before retirement. Give us the great game day CRB that occasionally shows up.

Yeah I expect it to be officiated similarly to our game against Arizona, etc.

It would surprise me. Our worst loss of the year was by 13 at UF and we were winning that game with 8 to go. The only game all season that we never lead or tied in the 2nd half was at Rupp without James/Phillips. Despite this team's flaws, the defense seems to make them immune to being blown out.

We are a very physical defense…. It is part of the reason that we are so good on defense.

We can't have another game where James, Vescovi, and Phillips score a combined 12 points. On the bright side, defense travels and played well for the majority of the game. We also tend to play better against the better competition so I am hoping for a bounce back game.

Last night..... wow. Adams did an excellent job doing his best to help the louisiana ... We got mugged the entire night... BUT, if this team could have just made the baskets they should have, which most teams do in their sleep at this point in the season, along with, I don't know, making FT like a D-1 scholly player should, then we still would have handled business... so many issues to point to... Hell, just cut the turnovers in half for F's sake... you fix just one and we win by 8-10 despite the refs...

We come into the next game and pull this 'ish, and seriously, Duke will embarrass us on national television... Duke doesn't make these types of mistakes, or they are minimal... Definitely a SMH moment on how bad we've regressed. Turnovers, missed FT, missed open shots--- those are the mistakes you make at the first of the season and then learn from and improve on/adjust... we have gone backwards for two months...despite the injuries and player loss.

Are you saying it's too hard on college athletes to play 39 hours apart? And then get a 4 day rest on top of it before SS games? Some of these guys just got done playing 3, 4, or 5 days in a ROW in conference tournies. Basketball ain't football. I can remember being in tourneys where you'd play twice in 1 day and we freakin loved it. The more playing the better for those that love the sport and very few at this level would be here if they didn't. Don't think anyone is abusing these poor kids by playing twice in 3 days for the whole week. Jmo

Tl;dr 19 and 20 years old...they'll be fine

At this point I think we should just intentionally fall behind to Duke so we don't have to shoot FTs down the stretch 😅🤣

It is truly bad on my heart. 57% last night 🤢🤮
