Not worth it

Anytime you can get a leg up on Vegas its worth it. You need to embrace the dark side of the "win win" betting strategy. Betting against you fave team is a win win. Its easy to be objective when there is money to be won...and if your team winds up winning, bewm!

Are you saying it's too hard on college athletes to play 39 hours apart? And then get a 4 day rest on top of it before SS games? Some of these guys just got done playing 3, 4, or 5 days in a ROW in conference tournies. Basketball ain't football. I can remember being in tourneys where you'd play twice in 1 day and we freakin loved it. The more playing the better for those that love the sport and very few at this level would be here if they didn't. Don't think anyone is abusing these poor kids by playing twice in 3 days for the whole week. Jmo

Tl;dr 19 and 20 years old...they'll be fine

I’m not saying that if you understand the gist. But if you want equality across the board and what’s good for the “student athlete,” then Maryland-Bama (who played the early games yesterday) would play early tomorrow and so on. You would keep the same continuity. But that makes too much sense. Our guys played a 9:40 tip last night. I get that they’re young athletes, but they play 2 hours, handle required media obligations, and get to bed (at say) 2 am? Sure, they don’t play today but then start a different routine tomorrow.

Maybe it’s CBS (still an NCAA partner), but this is just another on the list that the NCAA really doesn’t care about the athletes.

Why should Maryland play 12:15/9:40 and UT play 9:40/2:15? This isn’t golf where they want the players to get the same possible weather conditions. Oh yea, in the conference tournaments, they continue the continuity with the sessions, too.

On a side not, I hate the shirts all the players are wearing with the word "sole." Stupid. Idiocracy.
For those wondering what it means, Nike provided an explanation to MLive.

“It is a play on words in reference to the sole of a basketball shoe. The phrasing has a double meaning. The players wearing the tees put their heart and ‘sole’ into the game, representing their school, family, teammates, and fans. And for Nike, basketball is the ‘sole’ of our brand.”

Well that's the least debatable and shocking thing I'll read all day 😁 Even the facade of that notion was a facade of a facade.

I do think the tv networks make the call (while also slotting in the same arenas back to back - for example we play right after the other Orlando game Saturday... I guess for the arena's sake). But let's not forget MM is where 90% of the NCAA's/"universities" (since much of the $$$ is sent right back to the members of the association) money comes from. The players are the universities' product undoubtedly.

Ok the more I look at it, the easier the answer is - it's just not possible for all teams IF the arena wants B2B games, which surely they would for various cost and packaging reasons.

Think of it this way, in Orlando Thursday were 4 winners:
Furman - played 1st noon
SDSU - played 2nd ~230

Duke - played 3rd ~7
UT - played 4th ~930

And this goes for every region. So there's just no way for all teams to keep their consistency. And even moreso because in the 2nd rd the games are night heavy. 6 of the 8 games start at 4:30 or later.

But again - I'm really glad we got an earlier tip. The noon game would have been even better. This team just needs to go play, I worry we get in our heads too much. We don't need to be sitting around thinking about big bad Duke. Just wake up and get to it.

I love the "amateur sketch"!

I'm honestly not sure how we'll play against Duke...

They have 2 7' guys that start for them, the only team we played with that size was Arizona and it went poorly. We at least get Duke on a neutral court though.

Santi and JJJ both gotta score 12 or more though and then we'll probably need 2 or 3 other players to hit double digits. I think Louisiana was a good team to start with, they were a top 50 scoring team with a legit inside big with a few smaller/quicker guards. They also got to play as physical as they want for some reason...we should expect Duke to be allowed to do the same thing.

Duke has Roach and Blakes for smaller quicker guards, but otherwise they are built with size and length and less speed. On paper us without ZZ that's the type of team we should play better against.

At this point I think we should just intentionally fall behind to Duke so we don't have to shoot FTs down the stretch 😅🤣

It is truly bad on my heart. 57% last night 🤢🤮

Exactly! I truly just don't get it on all the recent missed FT the past month... You never want to pin just one aspect of the game with so many moving parts, but if you go back and look at 3-4 of our losses, especially the last second buzzer beaters, we'd have gotten the W if we'd just made a large percent of our FT...

I have said that all year..until we lost ZZ. I just don't think we are as good without him...we are still a good team, just not a really good team.
Neither is Duke. We can win this game as easily as they can. If our defense shows up and our shooters are hitting, I like our chances.
