Let's say you, for whatever reason, enjoy plays...movies...music...from undercompensated artists (under a cartel system)...should that mean entities should be able to price-fix to keep those folks well below market value compensation for you?I'd make a different argument. And, I consider myself neither a 'pure Socialist' or 'pure Capitalist'. My take is purely from a standpoint of what I find more interesting. As College Sports begins to look more and more like Professional Sports, my interest wanes. As more and more players move around from one team to another and you don't have many of the same players year to year, it's less interesting IMO. When did I like College Football the most? When conferences didn't become 'Super Conferences' and College Sports was more about playing for your favored school than going to the school offering the most money. Of course, there were under the table deals all along. But I believe at a completely different level.
Long story short, my argument isn't about which system is better (Socialism or Capitalism). Mine is about which format is of most interest to me as a fan.
It takes nothing away from the university for the athletes to make money on their name, image, and likeness.
And yet it should. It should really be them paying, not the fans (again). Or to be more precise, the coaches and staffs should be making less/made smaller to correct the ratios to what a free market says each is actually worth. It takes nothing away from the university for the athletes to make money on their name, image, and likeness.

NFL teams earn a multiple of what college programs do...and yet the top college coaches make just as much. If we're being honest, them and their staff are the the ones that have reaped the most rewards from the universities not having to pay and re-allocate to the players accordingly. And that's not blaming...no one is turning down a paycheck of course...but that's where some of the money should be allocated from...
I am excited for the upside that Nico presents in the future but I want Joe to win the job outright, win the Heisman simply because of the type of teammate and leader he has been. I want some of the younger guys to see you don't have to leave, just keep working and bettering yourself and when you get your chance, show out.Not to ignite the "Nico needs to sit" argument again, but...
...Joe's comment is the real reason that Nico could benefit from a year behind Joe. Far more than physical preparedness (which sounds like it's coming nicely), the mental preparedness is critical, and I think the reason that HH was so much better than Joe was. It wasn't physical talent, it was the ability to run the offense and find the right guy. Maybe Nico is a genius and will get it instantly, but I expect that Joe's experience in the system will be very hard to overcome.

Well this one of the few times I come down on the same side of a mayo debate as @engineerVOL . Just had the mayo grilled cheese. While it crisped up nicely it is missing the browned butter taste that takes it to the next level.
If you're referencing big pocket donors? They have big pockets for a reason...they bet on winning hands. Your average, hard working FAN donor wants to be part of making their favorite program great...such as players. Thinking the collectives are a combination of both efforts and make it MORE likely both pitch in. A NFL fan doesn't need to "donate" money. Apparel and ticket sales, tv viewership and attendance more than covers that. Maybe we'll revisit after the college game dries up and disappears...not holding my breath.Directly, no. Indirectly, we'll see.
Donors are far less likely to give to something they see as professional, particularly if the perception (right or wrong) is that the athletes are making more than they do. Scholarship funds may eventually struggle. While I haven't researched it, I seriously doubt that developers of professional sports venues depend on donations as much as college, so ADs may start feeling it eventually. My guess is that marquee sports will be fine (TV money, if nothing else) but non-revenue sports will bear the brunt.
Now we're gonna go nuclear. . . soften some butter, whip it into the mayo, spread the mixture on the outside of the grilled cheese bread, cook. . .Well this one of the few times I come down on the same side of a mayo debate as @engineerVOL . Doug Gottlieb retracts Freddie Freeman, Casey Close report amid lawsuitDid the admit he made stuff up really happen? The freeman and agent issue didn’t actually happen?
Have my triple crown patch for sea base Philmont and Northern Tier!I always thought the same way. But then I found a way to put mass on my legs.
I used to work legs hard and heavy with squats, deadlifts, leg press, hack squats, leg extension/leg curls. Would get definition without mass. Didn’t matter what I did. Got stronger but still chicken legs…
Then in 2019 in preparation for Norther Tier and Philmont trips with my son and Scouts, I was 56-57 during the training. I started doing high rep body weight squats. At first just body weight until I was able to do 5 sets of 100. Then I started wearing my backpack loaded to 60 lbs. I worked my way up to 10 sets of 100. 3 x a week or 4 days of 10 sets x 100 with no weight.
My quads, hamstrings and glutes started getting bigger. At 60, it’s a great way to keep endurance for snow skiing, water skiing and wakeboarding.
I have kept my leg routine, but switched to a weighted vest (also 60 lbs) I now alternate with my rowing machine too for a different type of endurance. My legs are no longer chicken legs…
It sucks at first, but then becomes addictive. Great way to burn calories and lower your resting heart rate , improve cardiovascular endurance as well.
I'm impressed he knows the repeating line. I can say with certainty our beer bottle throwing qb didn't know what that was.Not to ignite the "Nico needs to sit" argument again, but...
