I am excited for the upside that Nico presents in the future but I want Joe to win the job outright, win the Heisman simply because of the type of teammate and leader he has been. I want some of the younger guys to see you don't have to leave, just keep working and bettering yourself and when you get your chance, show out.
All of these reasons!

That wasn't a different argument than Ulysses'.

It's dangerous to simply reduce an argument down to "what do I prefer", as opposed to "what is the right thing". (I don't like what NIL is producing in the NCAA either. But I have to advocate for what I think is right and just. If a product can't support itself by doing what's right, does it really need to exist?)

Go back a couple of hundred years to when landowners were making better profits off of owning slaves. They could make the "I just don't want to see this system overtaken by pure money grabbing from those slaves", and "My take is purely from the standpoint of what I find more interesting". It was still a system built on artificially suppressing people's right to profit off of their own work (name, image, likeness, whatever...).

Corporate fast-food joints could claim that they have less interest in a system where the market defines the cost of their burgers, and work together to jointly price-gouge.

None of your points do away with the fact that any of us could watch true amateur college sports as this NCAA BS goes mercenary. We could all go watch intramural sports. But we don't. Because it's crap. Instead, some want to artificially cap what students can earn, in an effort to retain the quality product they've come to expect, as well as the "amateur" ideal that stinks to high heaven once we admit it's a multi-billion-dollar business.

Fair arguments for which I can't completely disagree. And, yes, I do prefer the 'old system' though with more compensation for the players. Then again, I'm not a huge fan of how our current businesses (many of them) are being run either (if we're talking about the business of college sports). Large companies generating massive profits yet our middle class has been slowly dwindling. Income growths massively increasing for a few while most have seen modest to no gains over the last 4 decades or so.....

An argument for a diff. forum however...

E v e r y o n e is betting k-state + Vols ML.
So most of the money is being bet on us to win tonight? If so, I’m pretty concerned now. Spread started at -5.5 and it’s down to -4.5 which is no good. Vegas knows something. If all the money is coming in on us, the line should be going to opposite direction.

I'm nervous about it. Between the boosts and the line movement. . .

If you're referencing big pocket donors? They have big pockets for a reason...they bet on winning hands. Your average, hard working FAN donor wants to be part of making their favorite program great...such as players. Thinking the collectives are a combination of both efforts and make it MORE likely both pitch in. A NFL fan doesn't need to "donate" money. Apparel and ticket sales, tv viewership and attendance more than covers that. Maybe we'll revisit after the college game dries up and disappears...not holding my breath.

I don't think it's gonna dry up, but I do think the changes could be more than superficial. College and pro are very different animals, and successful in different ways for different reasons. I'm not as bearish on it as some my age, just saying that it may end up changing.

Also. . . a lot of people are calling for FAU to cover, but UT to win.

As long as we win, I don’t care, however, I will be very concerned if it is that close to the game. I don’t think they can match our physicality, so if it is that close, then the whistle has favored them the whole game.

It's entertainment and stars driven...always has been. One animal has always been gussied up as a mascot for ole State College is all. The best mascots alway got more Scooby snacks. Pure football venues drew Division II and NAIA levels crowds...cuz that's where they were staged.

Have a bad feeling about tonight now. Tells me Vegas knows how this game will be called by the refs, and it will not be the same way all the other NCAA games have been called.
Yeah, everyone I've read is predicting FAU to cover +5.5. This should be a stressful game to watch, 😆
