Exactly it's like putting lipstick on a pig. Pretending you're doing something without addressing the real problem. We all know though that they're not going to cut into commercial time that would cut into their revenue.Maybe if they dont have 20 minute halftimes and 3 minute commercial breaks after every series then this won’t happen. There is absolutely no need to keep a continuous clock even after first downs
Or if they really wanted to make a change they could have less commercials. Can’t take away those advertising dollars though! It’s a good way for them to make a change and act like they care about shortening games. If they really wanted to make games shorter then the clock needs to run on out of bounds plays. I don’t think they’ve changed that rule yet. Just on 1st downs.

If they truly wanted to make games shorter without changing rules, they could make the quarters 14 minutes each. But you are probably right. The networks have no interest in shortening game times.Exactly it's like putting lipstick on a pig. Pretending you're doing something without addressing the real problem. I feel your pain. There are a lot of dumb rules in sports. As a Raiders fan, the tuck rule is among the very most stupid of all time. Also, fumbling out of the endzone being an auto recovery for the defense and getting the touchback is beyond stupidity. When it doesn’t touch or come from the front, the rule makes no sense to me.
