If the baseball Vols can start playing cleaner defense they will be pretty good by the end of the season. Both games with LSU they had a few lapses with defense and that ultimately cost them.

Defense and the SPs need to stop throwing and start pitching. They fall off the mound, stay too high in the zone and don't work the plate. The opponents have watched last years performances and know their tendencies.

They need to find a way to get some offense going. The defensive lapses stands out like a sore thumb because in tight games against good teams like LSU...I don't think they on the whole they've been bad. But we've had some of those things show up in big moments.

Yep. My wife knew plenty of private school kids. She always said they just used a higher class of drug. Ha.

I on the other hand am a product of one of the poorest systems in this great state but wouldn't change it for anything. Lots of successful people came out of that little k-12 school. Some of them on this board even. 🤪
When I was in 3rd grade in a rural TN public elementary school I had class with a normal but smart girl. In 5th grade she was my partner in a singing and dancing performance of Mamma Mia (I destroyed all evidence of this).

Today she defended her Doctorate in Biochemistry working with uranium at Notre Dame. Within a year I should be defending my Doctorate in Plant, Soil, and Environmental Sciences at Virginia Tech.

The odds two kids in that town that attended the same high school would get PhDs is low (I don't know of another one within 4 years of us), much less the same grade, much less having class together as far back as 3rd grade (maybe further).

We weren't even the "smartest" people in the class. Not even close. We just never stopped learning and being motivated in academia while others went into successful careers and such. We had a good environment and culture in our class specifically where we had the highest collective ACT scoring average, highest average GPA, and greatest number to go to college.

Someone remind me, did Michael Jordan ever take a mental health day off?

Hardly anyone ever talked about that back then.

Does that make it a positive? Of course not. He ended up with gambling habits and many suspect alcoholism (yellow eyes, drinking every second of the documentary, and well-known stories he'd immediately start drinking after games).

Mental health is no joke and far more important than some absurd ego or image. Being "bulletproof" is a facade and even MJ proves this.

That almost sounds like making excuses for the "job" he's done and most likely will do. I think I get your point, that some of the blame lies with those who crawl into bed with him. But let's not understate who it is that carries the critters.

They know what they’re getting into well before they make an offer. They can’t deny that and he certainly can’t hide it. Some teams just want to win and will do anything to get them.
