Vols basketball definitely in a bind. With Uros and JJJ they're sitting at 16 scholarships. I think it's a foregone conclusion that JJJ and Uros will being going pro or transferring at this point, but they're still sitting at 14.

So, I guess we wait to see what Phillips does. If he stays, I think there's a short list of players who might not be in orange next winter. Jefferson and Edwards are the short men on the totem pole in that scenario, but we need PGs more than SFs.

The only other option is if Gainey comes as a walk-on. Which I guess is not a major off-the-wall possibility since his dad is the Associate Head Coach... probably could get or has most of school covered through NIL, tuition discounts for employees, etc. So if they could take one for the tean that would be great.

Coaches’ kids attend University for free, I think…

Wait! I didn’t mean insects, spiders or snakes!
snakes nor spiders bother me. Now my 31 year old, 6’2” son screams when he sees a spider. It was always mom’s duty to detached those horrifying creatures when he was growing up. This is the same man that went charging up in the stands after a BYU fan that threw water at me after the BYU game 😁. I rub it in his face ever chance I get. Mom privilege.

Oh shoot, I guess I never gave an update. Thanks for asking!

I did pass! I actually impressed my committee during my in-person exam. There was some slight miscommunication on the written portion and I had to make corrections and revisions on one of those, but it was just a formatting issue not a knowledge thing.

So I'm officially a PhD Candidate, or PhD ABD (all but dissertation).

Now if UTIA could get their stuff in order and give my old department the go-ahead to start interviewing for open positions then maybe in a year I'll be back in Knoxville as a professor.
Woot! Woot!

Same age for my son, but the coach was a former HS coach who went back to college and was a financial advisor. He taught the kids how to play baseball the correct way. At that age, the only kid who could consistently catch a thrown ball was his son. So he was the first baseman. My son became the shortstop because he could throw on a rope to first. Won so many games because the other team never made it to first. By the end of the season, every infield player could throw to first. I fell in love that Fall. I never liked baseball at all until my son started playing. I got 10 years of baseball before he quit playing. I got to coach (preferred assistant coach to head coach) I taught every position except catcher. I threw batting practice. I loved helping. My favorite part was teaching the players how to run faster. Technique can make you much faster. I miss those times. 😊
Yep….. I love it too…. Great times spent with your kids.

It's also hilarious to me that Saban is apparently shaking in his boots and doesn't think Milroe, Simpson, Lonergan, or Holstein can play
Saban knows he can't go back to playing dominant defense with a physical running game and game manager QB...so having an elite QB is a necessity. I think it's fair to say that they no longer are dominant at the LOS despite all that talent, so the game manager type QBs Saban used to have won't be enough to get them to the playoffs.

Had a much needed day off from my second job yesterday, got home from work and spent a couple of hours with my LG dog in the field with some of my goats doing nothing....... Just watching and taking it in.

My wife started her job Monday....... So relieved to get her back into a job.... Not an easy thing to do right now. Count your blessings people. I know I count mine I'm exhausted but happy to have work and after my 13 hour days it's nice to come home and take care of the animals for an hour or so before turning in...... But even nicer to have an afternoon to spend watching the goat kids play.

I'm off to bed y'all, have a good evening!

catching a goat nap?

When I coached pee wee basketball I told all my players you get an offensive rebound to shoot, I dont care where you are at, shoot. No team out rebounded us.
When I coached little girls basketball, I was having trouble getting them to be aggressive going after the ball. We were scrimagging against another team where the other coach was a good friend of mine. They were getting every rebound on both ends of the court. It was frustrating to me to see my girls just get pushed around and I could see it in their faces that they were demoralized. I called timeout and brought them over. I told them they were to polite and needed to more aggressive going for the ball. Sent them back out and no change. At the next break I again told them they needed to go after rebounds and loose balls. I told them they should imagine that the ball was a piece of candy, their favorite candy and it was the last piece on earth. They went out and after the next shot, bodies were flying everywhere. 1/2 the other team was on the floor. The other coach called timeout and walked over to me and asked what I told them. We both shared a laugh. From then on I had to stress not being too aggressive. These were 8 year olds I think. 😅

What Bama doesent have generational talent at QB? What will they do?

I gotta air out some carryover from the DWright is lazy convo.

We live in an Age of Misinformation.

Will Levis and Anthony Richardson are considered top NFL draft QB candidates - look at their resumes. Please?

DWright is lazy. What?

Look around you and seek some form of truth.

Most media is full of propaganda or misinformation for one reason or another.

Interesting times my friends.

Go Vols!

Whoa...I must have missed something, what idiot is saying Wright is lazy?

I guess they look at a dude that size running tempo and think he should weigh less? But they don't realize how difficult it actually is and how much work it takes for those big OL to stay big.

“Scouts”

Probably the same ones that advised every NFL team to pass on Trey Smith for five rounds.

Must be flawed. Will Levis has the IQ of a moldy ham sandwich in a non zipping sandwich bag.
I'm gonna look into it more. Because I'd have expected Hooker to score higher than Levis on a cognitive test. Not out of bias, but because I've seen Levis make boneheaded decisions in droves and I've seen Hendon make dozens of brilliant pre-snap recognitions in the fastest offense in the country against the best defenses.

HH is a gamer. It’s why he didn’t beat out Milton. But turn on the lights and he hits another level.

Levis shrinks in the lights. I’d venture a guess he looked like an all-American in practice.

These tests are just that - tests. With no 270 lb dudes threatening you with bodily harm. Game film tells a different story.
